Is there a TSB for the 4.0 tick tick?

Have been searching and can find 05-06 taco but no 4runner tsb's I think alot of them do it my 07 sure does.

If it's the typical ticking you hear when the 4.0L engine is idling, then no there's no TSB. It's normal and does not pose any problem. It's actually a sensor bolted on the left side of the engine that causing the ticking. Some guys have removed it and put some double-sided tape on it to "cushion" it and make the ticking less noticeable.

Yup, the driver's side (left side) of the engine is where the noise comes from. I think Toyota calls is a "VSV" valve or something like that. It the ticking really bothers you, try removing the sensor and "padding" it a bit before bolting it back in place. I've heard of people using relatively thick double sided tape to act as a cushion, and I've also heard of people placing a small o-ring around the mounting bolt so that it sits between the engine and the sensor. Supposedly, this is supposed to quiet it down.

by the way, i tried that fix on my 06, and the tick is still there as before. that seems to work on the tacos though.

Really? My tick is still there too, but it's MUCH more quiet than before. Now I really have to listen hard to hear it.

Ive tried all kinds of padding, double sided tape, and o rings. Some even at the same time to isolate the sensor even more, but the tick sounds exactly the same. Didn't do anything for me.
