Is there power to the 7-way?

I’m curious if the 4Runner comes factory wired to provide power to the trailer and, if so, is it capable of keeping a battery charged? If I have a battery on my trailer do I need to install an isolator to prevent current from flowing back to the 4Runner?

If the 4runner has the factory tow package (likely if it has the 7 wire connector installed), it has a battery charging wire in the connector. This wire is switched through a 30 amp relay and a 30 amp circuit breaker in the engine fuse/relay box, and is only connected when the ignition is ON. It works well; the trailer is isolated from the vehicle battery when the engine is stopped, and connected for charging when the engine is running.

So basically, everything you need is already in place. Just connect the charging wire to your trailer battery in the trailer harness, and you're good to go.

Yep, the 4Runner is equipped for charging towed camper/boat. Be aware to not connect or disconnect with engine running. Could result in blown fuse. I learned this from experience.
