I built my bumper for 180$, plus the cost of the winch. I did all my own welding and plate cutting. Steel was sourced locally at normal retail cost. It's still incomplete in this picture.

Nice bumper. Don't your side tubes block your headlights though?

You can make the 96-98 bumper approach angle even better with the plastic off.

I added a piece of 3"x1.5" rectangular steel to mount my lights. It saved my radiator on one occasion :0

Here's a comparison between the two. Mine on the left has 99 springs and 32" tires. The right one has 2000 springs and 31" tires

Yeah, if I remember correctly, it's about 8- 10mm bolts

Or pick up a certifit bumper for a 97, its only like $70 chrome or $65 black I think. The plastic lower is sold separate.

Yeah, they do, but it's not horrible. I'm working on my projector retrofits anyways so those will completely dodge the bars as planned.

This is relevant to my interests.

I've got a 99 limited with the fat lip bumper, and the turn signal/fog light in the lower plastic piece.

Since it looks like the same profile, I was thinking I could cut out a rectangle in the metal upper, and remount the turn signal/fog assembly.

Basically end up with a 96-98 looking bumper, but with fogs next to the turn signals.

After that, I'm definitely liking the 3"x1.5" tube stock cross piece with lights mounted to it.

Seems like it wouldn't be difficult to add a front tow hitch receiver to that cross piece.

This is a good idea. If you don't want to cut an opening for the signal housings, I know there is a way to have the corner lights as the blinkers. Then maybe cut some holes for some new badass led fog lights. Since the stock ones don't so much anyway. [emoji53]

I think I'm going to do the cross piece on the frame ends, and weld a bracket+hitch receiver on top of it like in the above link.

I've seen a stock rear hitch cut down and welded in-between the frame rails. The steel like mine has is held on by 2 10mm bolts so it isn't very strong

I welded a piece of square tube steel between my frame rails up front, then welded my receiver under it, then cut the frame capsoff the front edge, welded a flat plate in their place and eyelet tabs.

Well, I reached out to AddictedOffroad, and they don't want my money for their bolt on bumper mount.

Damn shame, it would be absolutely perfect as a base for a custom bumper project.

Anybody know of another bolt on cross piece or mount similar to addicted's?

If you can build a bumper than you can build the cross member.

What's he's getting at is that if you possess the skills to build a bumper, a cross member should be a piece of cake...
