Is this a 99 highlander?

I picked this up over the weekend and have been doing research to see if it is a highlander edition. It is automatic with locker, has sport hood and flares, color coordinated bumpers. What it doesn't have that I've read come on these is a different interior trim. Mine is plain inside. Also has gold badging. Unfortunately, the original window sticker wasn't in the glove, I know they said on the upper right corner if it was or not. Asked the guy this morning at our local dealership and I seemed to know more than he did.:ybrick: Doesn't really matter to me either way would just be cool to know if it is or isn't. thanks

Nope they're all the same. The only few difference in the highlander and the sport edition is the name and in 01-02 seats changed and in 02 they got sport edition badges. 99-00 called highlanders 01-02 called sport edition

Are you referring to the black plastic trim pieces? I may be wrong but I believe the Highlander, along with all of the other trims, came with black plastic, or you could opt for the faux woodgrain trim which came standard on the Limited models.

2001 Sport and all 2002 'Sport Edition's' came standard with the painted silver trim pieces.

So the black interior shown in the picture I attached is standard for a Highlander?

Correcto

And Tinigunner- not trying to split hairs with you, but the Sport Edition name was offered only in 2002 and they had their own specific seat fabric.

Highlander name was used for just one year in 1999. After '99 Toyota started calling them Sport packages until 2002 when they changed over to Sport Edition.

Looks like clearcoat failure.

OP go on Toyota's site and click the link to the owners site, you can enter the VIN and you can get a spec sheet for it along with any dealership service history if any was done.
