Is this a good deal?

Hello All,

I am looking at a 2008 SR5 V8 4x4 with 167k miles. The interior is absolutely perfect and the exterior is in great shape as well. CV boots all look good with no rips and the underside is rust free. I can tell it needs a timing belt & water pump, etc. which I will do myself but aside from that it appears to be in great shape. The reason for the high mileage is because she drives a lot of highway for her job and was recently given a company car. It has a clean history and has always been a local vehicle here in east TN. I have negotiated the price to 11k and I believe this is a good deal based on my research, but I would feel better knowing I had a little confirmation from others on the board who have been around them longer. 11k is a pretty good deal if it is as clean as you say. use the timing belt and water pump as leverage for sure though, i got my 04 sr5 v6 with 94k for 12,995, so you should try and push it closer to 10, IMO

She was asking 11.5k which was still pretty good IMO, so I used the Timing belt and water pump to get it down to 11k. So, you think it's worth closer to 10?

i just went on KBB to check and see what the ballpark is, assuming its in very good condition as you stated, the KBB is just a hair over 11, so maybe $10,750? either way you're getting a vehicle thats life isn't even close to over, so anywhere around 11 or lower is a good deal i think

Thanks for the confirmation. In my area, everyone seems to sell theirs for more than what KBB states, so I figured other areas were probably the same way.

i got mine from a used car lot, the guy selling it initially wanted 13,500, but coming in with some knowledge certainly helped

I got a very clean '04 V8 with 140k on the clock for 10,500 back in November. They listed it at 14500, got them down to 10,500 through negotiating. The timing belt and water pump had not been replaced and one of the calipers was seized.
