Is this a lot of rust?

I've been searching for an 06-09 V8 with 4wd in black and the only ones I'm finding are in the Northeast and Midwest. I've narrowed it down to one in the mid-west and I am buying it sight unseen so I had the dealer take pictures of the underside to check for salt damage. Being from the southeast I don't know what is a lot of rust and what isn't. How do these pics look? Just some basic surface rust that's common on these things or should I stay away this vehicle?

your still in the clear, just be sure to cap that rust now and it won't be an issue.

My truck came from PA and I live in CO... so she has rust but I POR-15 it for total peace of mind... once its done its done for good unless you still live in the rust belt. In this case just be sure to wash the underside once in awhile.

still POR-15 is the way to go just don't puss out on the prepwork and its a 1 time fix albeit a PITA.

you are good. I am in my 3rd 4Runner here in Wisconsin and all of them have had similar rust underneath. It is actually superficial rust, which is not necessarilly bad. Sometimes you will see flakes, which typically are just the factory protection paint coming off.
IMHO, 4Runners don't come well protected, at least for the states where we have winter and salt. However, I have driven them for many years and no many issues related to rust. The only exceptions are rusted-in bolts and a broken stabilizer bar link.

That mostly looks like surface rust, maybe a little deeper than that, but structrually you look fine.

Rust on my 2005

Not horrible - but treat the rust with phor or something like that - I used rustoleum rust treatment - I basically coated everything after scraping the rust off. I probably will redo it again in the spring.
