I kno this is a 4runner forum but this is another car i am considering.

how can they list a 2005 car for under invoice?

this seems too good to be true. so i can print this out and take it to my local mercedes dealer and get them to sell me a brand new 2005 for under invoice???

easy the dealers get hold backs and other paybacks from the manufacturer

Yup, dealer holdbacks and factory-to-dealer allowances/rebates allow for under-invoice prices. It's really not uncommon, especially with undesireable cars or slow-selling cars.

One more thing is that invoice price does not mean that's the price the dealer gets it for. Wholesale invoice can be considerably lower than the displayed invoice.

Technically what it means is that CarsDirect is willing to sell you the car for under invoice. I wouldn't ask a dealer to match the price, I would ask the dealer to beat the price. CarsDirect deals through dealers and CarsDirect makes a profit. Try to get some of that profit.

BTW, not all dealers will beat or even match the price. But if you look around - especially at the larger dealers - you'll eventually find one that will.
