If everything that is said in the add is good, no frame rot (which it shouldn't down there), test drive passes. I would say good buy.

Try and get it down around 3000. no more then that unless they have extras to through in. (tires, rims, parts, etc.)

Okay well I was hoping to get him under $3000. So we'll see how it goes.

Zebulon is in the middle of nowhere. trust me.

Also, do you guys typically take these to a mechanic to have it checked over? I used to do that but they didn't seem to look at anything worth paying the money for. Will they do really do any testing that will prevent me from getting a lemon, or do I have to ask them to check certain things in particular?

If I should get a mechanic to check it over anything I should ask them to focus on in particular for this model year? I looked up some of the recall stuff and this might qualify for one of the Fuel issue recalls? that is if it is still covered.

I would say its worth more than $3,000. Doubt he will go as low as you are hoping. The truck seems to be decent for the money as long as there is no rust which is so common on this generation. Find out when the headgasket was replaced, timing belt, water pump..

Getting a pre-safety check is a good idea in buying any car. Also you can bargain for the seller to pay for the pre-safety.They wont do a compression test unless you ask. these are known for head gaskets. Also check timing belt.

And yes get it under $3000. Also check around in your area at others like it and compare prices and options.
