Is this Paint ok?

Just purchased a 2001 SR5 and its my first 4 Runner. The paint looked great for a 2001 so I figured it had been repainted. While cleaning it I see where the new paint starts and it looks very thick almost like it was dipped or something. Anyway the edges are what is concerning me. I am still trying to figure out how to put a picture in here so I will insert them later. Anyone have experience with this?

Looks like bodywork was done or just bad pannel painted over. If no rust under it - I wouldn't worry about.

That looks like an adhesion problem. Is that a plastic part? Maybe the painter didn't use the plasticizer (sp?) that helps plastic flexibility in paint? Without flexibility plastic painted parts will crack and the paint and it will come off.

It has a clean carfax. Its like that in most of the door jambs. You can also tell around the windows where it was taped off. Also the top of the truck is not as slick and shiny as the rest of the truck like it was not painted. I have not seen any rust so I am hoping its ok. Thanks for the info.

Its hard to tell from the pic but i'v seen that alot over the years its probably the result of a cheap re paint job which does not have to be reported to Car-Fax more then likely a previouse owner scratched the hell out of it maybe on lease and got a cheap paint job done for re sale or trade in, and the roughness on the roof could be from overspray that comes from a poorly ventilated paint booth and can be fixed with a bar or two of paint clay and some soap and water, Good Luck and other than that it looks like you've got a nice rig there
