Is this worth buying

Came across the 4runner and it is local to me. I took a look at it and it looks clean. Exhaust seems a bit loud and smell a tad bit of burning oil that looks like leaking valve cover gaskets. DO I need to be concerned about the mileage- I only want top buy this if it will last.

My "95 T100 has 214K on it..and I would drive it anywhere.
As long as the price does not go up too high, yes, I think it is a pretty good deal.
Looks good and the major maintainance issues have been addressed.

With 228,500 miles on it, the bidding is about at the highest I would pay for it now. With the maintenance all done and everything, if it's not rusty, I would maybe go as high as $3,800, but only if the undercarriage looks good. Ask for pics of underneath.

I would keep looking. You can prob find pretty much the same truck with lower miles for a lil more money. Dropping 4k on 218k miles seems kinda crazy.

The only way I'll ever consider a 3rd gen while knowing there are maybe some issues here and there and high mileage is if it was a 5spd. Otherwise, I would move on and look for something better.

I bought my 97 with 200k on it for 4000, I have since been on this site since lifting, and modding and learning and drive it everyday everywhere, i have 236k on her now and I'm saving for new coil springs, bigger tires and a new bumper. 200k is just broke in.

The price for that 98 does seem fair for the miles and for all of the maintenance done already. However, if mileage is a major concern for you, I would recommend looking for others with lower mileage, although the 98 you are considering probably does have a lot of life still left in it.
