Is TRD PRO worth the cash?

Lol, yes, just not 10k. You can upgrade a trail/ trdorp to look and function better than a pro for 2k. Then spend the remaining eight on other things or invest it.

If you love it yes, I bought a lesser model and like to build a truck slowly over time. So for me spending less and putting 5k or more into it is what I like, some people keep there cars stock so the TRD works for them. All trucks are so overpriced today. I do agree with never paying over sticker, my local Ford dealer has a Raptor, Shelby Mustang and a Ford Focus RS on there showroom floor and they are 5-10k over on each. Hell, Honda has the Honda R over sticker also, its a friggin Civic.

You've made some great points but this is the only statement that I disagree with 100% ...

There is NO WAY that you could make a TRAIL/ORP to both look AND function better than a PRO for only 2k...maybe one or the other but not both (especially after factoring in all of the parts required and labor costs involved to complete those mods)

I think it'd be closer to 4k + ?

Another point to consider........

1. Stock OEM TRD Pro excellent resale.

2. To make the other T4R's close to or at Pro configuration-----Add-on/modifications do very little for resale.

...and there is nothing more pitiful than crossing paths with a FAKE PRO on the trail, as I did last Summer near Yamacola reservoir in NW Colorado ( the driver wouldn't even look at me or wave back as he was so embarrased )

Get off your damn high horse if you think your 'car trim' gives you some kind of boner. I meet people like you all the time in the 'upgraded' section of United Airlines. The irony being that people in Korean Air economy have 100X better experiences than those with upgraded United tickets. It's just that the idea of being upgraded gives some men a sense of self-worth. If your self worth is rooted in this crap, then go suck a dick.

TRD pros are cool, but jesus christ...not THAT cool. The resale isnt THAT great. Im seeing new TRD Pros selling for 47000 on cargurus. Two year old TRD pros selling for 37000. That's a 10000 difference. If you're trading it in, you'll maybe get 34000 from a dealer.

Doesn't sound like a great 'investment' to me.

If you're buying a 4runner with hopes to just sell it, then what's the point? I bought mine to last till it dies, as most people do, not some badge of honor. Talk about being a sucker for marketing.

Well worth it for me. I trade in my vehicles every 2 - 3 years. The Pro's have a amazing trade in value. Traded my 15 in on a 17, Dealer gave me $37K for my 15 with 41,000 miles. which back in 15 I paid $42K for. And they told me they already had it sold before I traded it because one of the Mechanics wanted it. They are a very hot item on the used car market. Plus I'm loven my new 17. :cheer2:

Everyone with a PRO seems to try to find some validation in their purchase with the same excuse “Oh it’s got a higher resale value” :clap2: yes, yes it does, while looking down at us peasants who didn’t buy one. Come time to sell I doubt you’ll get what you’re asking for.

I wanted a Quicksand PRO but couldn’t find one here in CA. I tend to keep my vehicles for a long time, so I just couldn’t justify spending another 10K on dealership mark up for aesthetic changes.

If you can afford the few grand and won’t mod it absolutely. All 4runners get great resale when bought at market price and are well kept. Pick whichever flavor suits you best.

For me it was definitely worth it. What I liked about the TRD Pro:

• Better resale value in my area
• I prefer the appearance (the grill and rims)
• Enough of a suspension upgrade over stock that I wouldn't want to upgrade it right away (has worked for 10 months so far...we'll see how long that lasts lol)
• Shockingly, I was able to get one faster than a TRD Off-Road model
