Are you talking about the MaxLife or the Asian Formula?
The Asian Formula is supposed to work with Toyota's systems according to documentation I've seen, but the MaxLife I have to look into.
Toyota SLLC (Super Long Life Coolant) aka "Toyota Pink" is an Ethylene-Glycol based Non-Silicate, Non-Amine, Non-Nitrate, Non-Borate coolant with HOATs (Hybrid Organic Acid Technology). As long as you find a coolant that meets those requirements, it will be okay to use with or in replacement of Toyota SLLC "Pink" Coolant. Its very important that you meet the above requirements because Toyota LLC (Long Life Coolant) or "Toyota Red" is actually a LOW Silicate Formula which is not meant for vehicle requiring the SLLC stuff.

Oooh... I just checked the Valvoline Website (their MSDS is not very detailed) and it has what they call "Alugard" a quick Google search showed a few BobistheOilGuy threads stating AluGard is what a lot of older American Coolants used and that it does have Silicates, Borates, Amines, and Nitrates in it.
I would recommend you flush the stuff out with either the Zerex Asian Vehicle Formula or get some Toyota SLLC "Pink" Coolant to replace it with. I would recommend you get distilled water and open not only the petcock on the radiator but the engine block also and flush it really well. I just had to do this today to a customer's Camry because they put windshield washer fluid in the coolant! :rockthrow:
Also, guys remember that your first service for the SLLC coolant is at 100k, but after the first service Toyota wants a 50k service interval for coolant changes.

Crap, well I guess I gotta do it all over again. Thanks for the info,I read in another thread the prestone extended life was ok, and that the max life was the exact same thing.can anyone confirm this?

It is ridiculous how difficult it is to get proper specifications on aftermarket coolants! I have been scouring the web looking for accurate information and I can't seem to find anything conclusive!
According to the minimal information on Prestone's Website it seems to be possibly okay to use. It is Silicate and Borate free and looks like it uses HOAT, but I can't verify it 100%; that also leaves out the issue of its Amine and Nitrate content. But it also says its compatible with GM DexCool systems and your statement that it is similar to MaxLife possibly worries me as both indicate a non-compatibility.
Personally I'd just email Prestone and whoever else you're look at with what Toyota calls for (http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om/OM33840U/pdf/sec_04-03.pdf is a good reference as it is a publication from Toyota) and see if they can provide you with documentation that would stand up in court meeting those requirements. If they can't I would not purchase their product. Yeah, sorry about that. I try to tell people its not the same as it used to be where "good ol' Green Coolant" was the only real type of coolant. That article is a little dated but shows how much different coolant technology is now and how you can easily causing long term damage if you're not paying attention. You see now why I just tell people to use the Toyota stuff, because it gets confusing trying to find the "right" coolant off an auto parts store shelf.
Toyota Vehicles Older than about '03 (depends on the model, all 4th Gens use Toyota SLLC "Pink")
-Toyota LLC (Aka "Toyota Red") works in all Toyota vehicles that call for Toyota LLC "Red" or older than '98.
-You can mix Toyota SLLC "Pink" with Toyota LLC "Red" coolant in a vehicle that calls for Toyota LLC "Red."
-You CANNOT mix Toyota LLC "Red" with Toyota SLLC "Pink" in a vehicle that calls for Toyota SLLC "Pink."

The above is a good general rule of thumb regarding the factory stuff. I'm gonna have to email my friend who's an even bigger stickler to matching specs up than I am in hopes that he may have a list of aftermarket coolants that we can use, since the only one I am sure of is the Zerex.

Peak Professional Lifetime Coolant?
My apologies to the OP for piggy backing on his Q, but I'm hoping he got his answer and it seemed logical to ask such a similar question here- certainly can help with the Search feature!
My 4Runner calls for SLLC and I'm wondering if I can use Peak Professional Lifetime Coolant? I can't find the Zerex Asian locally. I *may* be able to get Toyota SLLC in time for this weekend's work, but I KNOW I can get the Peak tomorrow.

I had my coolant replaced at Valvoline at 95,000 miles with what they called "chameleon coolant". It was yellow when they put it in but it's pink now...go figure. I did some research at the time because I was a little concerned, but the general consensus was that the coolant they used was consistent with Toyota's requirements.
I wasn't aware of the accelerated change schedule after 100,000 miles, however, so I'm glad I read this thread.

The problem is that if there is any, the majority of the damage will occur over a long period time and for the most part incrementally.
