ISR and Deckplate mod combo.....

I have heard both that it doesn't do ****, and that it increases throttle response... has anyone ever dyno'd this?? Also, when done in conjunction with the DP mod, which i have done, is it louder?? I have heard it almost annoyingly loud. Is it a gay, cheesy small sounding enigne sound?? Or does it make it sound more beeefy. When I did the deckplate, i noticed a more beefy sound especially around 4000RPM. Will the ISR mod jsut make it sound cheesy??

Also what else can be done to performance? I have true-flow, Deckplate, and (possible ISR)..

ISR is what please?

sorry to be stupid but I can not figure out what you are referring to as ISR -can you please write it out?

I know DP is deck plate....I am hoping to do that mod also so I am curious what you are asking about this ISR thing
 
i have already done the elbow and deckplate... I know how to do the ISR mod but i was wondering more about the pros/cons to doing this.. I know the power increase is minimal, but how is the sound... from some i have heard its loud and annoying, and some say it sounds amazing...
 
will then require premium grade gas?

my quick and dirty impression of the yota tech link was that the mod was likely worth doing, especially with the deck plate mod-

however I am concerned by what Zhivago mentions as "pinging" once the mod was completed- and my worry is premium gasoline would then be required to satisfy the engine.

thoughts?
 
The sound volume might depend on how old you are. :cool:

Loud exhaust and intakes sound cool at first but once the novelty wears off it'll get old. My deckplate is a bit loud but not too bad and the ISR mod doesn't add to it too much on the few trucks I've ridden in with the mod.

I just want to do the mod since it'll clean up the engine bay a bit.
 
i agree that doing to is beneficial to your engine.. cleaning out the engine bay will also increase air cirulation and therefore cool the air slightly giving you that "extra edge" lol .. Doing the mod adds probably no more than 1hp, but your engine looks better, and sounds better....


im planning on doing the mod tonight and I will let you know how it goes!!
 
i just did the ISR mod in less then 5 min with what i had in my shed. it looks good, but i dont hear anything different in the engine.

i know the deck mod will make a big different in engine sound.
 
i took a intake pipe my friend let me have. made it fit into the stock place of the silencer. i will take some picture tomorrow when i get my camera back.

took it on the freeway for a 30 min ride today. at high rpm around 4k i can hear a different in engine sound. anything under 4k its sounds the same to me.

eh i am just going to custom a 350z/Murano exhuast on to the 4runner. :biggrin2:
 
i use the 4runner in the winter to haul friends and snowboard gear to Tahoe. now with 18"wheels with 325/60/18 tires it doesnt want to pick up. i also have subs and amp thats pretty darn heavy. i want the extra power to pull it up on steep hills.
 
k so i did the ISR mod...

Holy S***... its soo much louder at WOT about 4000 rpm... it just resonates...


it was so loud that i actually put one of the silencers back on... the littler one closest to the throttle body.. doing that achieved the perfect sound for me...


now im running out of mods for performance... the ECT mod is definetely not worth it...


any ideas?
 
I have done the elbow, ISR, and deckplate. As far as cheap and easy mods go, this is the end of the line. next on my list is catback exhaust and some sway bars.

As far as having a blown 4runner is concerned, there is alot more involved than just throwing the supercharger on top. Just to name a few other requirements off the top of my head:

- 7th injector
- larger injectors all around
- increased capacity fuel line
- bigger spark plugs
- make sure your transmission is in tip-top shape
- transmission cooler

you can throw the s/c on without doing these things, but it will not work to it's full capacity and may cause pinging since it is adding so much air and the fuel supply can't keep up. the tranny mods are more preventative then needed right off the bat, but I highly reccomend it.
