ISR Mod and NGK-Go together!

Did the ISR Mod and a tune up over the last weekend...NGK plugs and wires, cleaned my MAF and TB...WOW what an incredible difference!!! 23 MPG's!!!! The whole kit and kaboodle took me about 3 hours...including assembly/painting the ISR Mod. Next....my sun roof...can't deal with the double button syndrome.. First pic is the before pic, and the last is the final outcome....Oh...special thanks to all who gave me their expert advice!!!!

Just did the same 2 weekends ago, huge difference. Didn't clean my MAF or TB though. What did you do to clean those?

Hey....for the TB, I removed the air intake and used CRC Throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush...scrubbed it a couple of times, and sprayed a couple times until I got it very shiny. Mine was very carbonized...With the MAF, I completely removed it from the intake hose, and used CRC MAF Cleaner...sprayed a couple times, let it dry, and sprayed again. Pretty much followed the directions on the cans... Huge difference in my rig's running and starting...Great luck!!!

probably seems stupid but what is an IRS mod, looks like it has something to do with the Intake, are you able to do it with a full K&N intake? haha why im at it what is a DRL mod see a lot of ppl that have that as well, i believe it has something to do with the head lights..? just dont know exactly what? thanks

ISR mod is removing the Intake silencer and replacing it with a straight piece of pipe. You won't need to do this because your K&N intake already replaces the intake silencer.

DRL mod is turining off the daylight running lights. There should be a plug by your drivers side headlight that you can unplug. This will eliminate the DRL's. It is often done for HID's or if you don't like your light always being on.

No smog so far....seems to be pretty clean running....I am so happy...going to tackle the 3 fan belts this weekend....

I was going to clean my MAF sensor with the CRC cleaner but it says on the back not to use on Karman-vortex MAF's. Does anyone know the one in the pics above is a Karman vortex? Where did you spray yours at?

If it is legal to put a K & N intake on, then it is legal to do an ISR mod.

It removes the Helmholtz resonator, which is not designed to reduce noise but reduce resonance and airflow pulsing at part-throttle conditions. Without it the MAF is not able to accurately meter airflow. There are some posts on yotatech where guys have had to burn premium to get rid of spark knock after removing the resonator, which makes perfect sense because they screwed up the operation of the MAF and the computer can't calculate the correct amount of fuel and it's running lean. Over time, the computer will 'learn' the correct A/F (long-term fuel trims, using feedback from the O2 sensor) but you've put the engine into a less-than-optimum condition, which is never a good idea. And of course, it doesn't improve performance at all, but it looks cleaner and sounds faster.
