Issues after spark plug change

Hello I have a 2000 4Runner SR5 v6 3.4L just had the spark plugs changed 5 days ago at a national auto repair shop that usually does good work. Just three days later now having issues with locks going on and off every time I hit the brakes, it also happens when I put on a turn signal. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Not after spark plugs been changed. Looks like some kinds of electrical problem. Have you checked all your fuses, and wires carefully. I'd take it back and ask them what's up.

Seriously though, there shouldn't be anything related to the door locks and the spark plugs. Also, troubleshooting 101 -- If there was a direct correlation, you should have experienced it the second you drove away from their shop. I wouldn't waste my time going back to them unless you want to pay them to fix the other problem

Mine does that sometimes but it's usually after I get the engine bay wet...it goes away after awhile.

Common sense told me something didn't look right with your post. I also don't feel you post is going to help anyone here.


To the OP. If this happened 3 days after the plug change, chances are they're not related. Can you lock it when you're not driving, and it stays locked? If you physically push the locks down, do they stay locked? There are a couple things that come to mind, but I can't figure out how they relate to braking. I could be something to do with your ignition switch. Have you had any issues with your key ignition lately? Another thing it might be is the door lock switch. Do you by chance notice any door ajar lights come on your dash when this happens? Another thing to check is behind your driver side kick panel. It's possible that you could have water leaking and draining to that area. If by chance your sunroof drain became disconnected it could be draining in that area. You might also hear clicking coming from the kick panel area when this is happening. I've heard of some people having to replace the fuse block in order to get this issue fixed.

That's like an alarm relay going bad or something. Any dash lights when it occurs?

Maybe you dropped your fob into the seat rail or somewhere and when you brake it presses the LOCK button. That's all I got.
