The new sub came in the mail today. 10 inch alpine type R. I just finished cutting out the wood for my box. I Put the back of the box together, and am waithing for light to glue it together.

My question is: How do I correctly hook this thing up? Since it has duel voice coils do I just run 2 sets of wires in the box and splice them together in the box?

My amp is a JL audio monoblock 250. So I only have one chanel I cant hook it up like a 2 chanel amp.

Thanks Coop

Coop,

I assume your coils are rated at 4 ohms, if so you should be safe running them a parallel. You could run one pair of speaker wires to your box, and then branch out in the box with a "Y" to each coil.

If the sub is rated at more than 250 max watts, you will be fine to run it on 2 ohms. Also make sure that your amp is rated at 2 ohm stable, other wise you will blow the amp.

I am running a Rockford Fosgate T1 2 ohm sub at 1 ohm. It is wired in parallel and is running 1153 RMS watts.

I know what I am talking about because I work at Car Toys in the installation department.
