It finally happened

I was out 4wheelin this weekend at the spot when i saw someone that needed a tug. I hooked them up and started to pull in 4lo with diff lock when i heard a loud breaking noise. I pretty much knew what it was right away. I cut my wheel to the right all the way so i could get a good peek and sure enough, busted cv joint. That really disappointed me. And i should have known, 4runners are light duty suvs.
So does anyone know of heavy duty cv joints? If not, my next car will be a 1 ton dodge with a cummins. Yes i will still keep my yota, it's still a great ride.
also, are there any suprises when changing this sucka? I'm gonna do it 1st thing in the morning. Tips are appreciated

Yep, thats the breaks. How old is your runner and how old is your busted cv? Those things aren't the strongest, but I have seen them do things that are amazing. Those cv's are designed for one vehicle mainly, while yanking the other fellow out you bacically doubled the weight of the vehicle and added more of a jerk as well. I don't know of any stronger cv's, maybe the manual hub cv's. You could always cut that IFS stuff off and put a dana 60 up there and almost reduce all of that, but I digress.

all went well, it took about an hour and a half with a beer break. If you ever need to do this, it's easiest to remove the spindle from the upper and lower ball joints and swing it out. Youll also need to remove the brackets for the abs and brake lines. Removing the tie rod bolt isnt necessary. But it sure was a greasy mess from driving with a torn boot. I'll take it a little easier from now on.
