I have had my 2004 4Runner Sport since it was brand new. Rather than get involved in another car payment, I though I'd do a little upgrading. I hope to start in August I have read many of the builds and I want to do it right the first time. Please let me know what you think of the following:

Your plan will be ok. Just remember whatever you spend on it in modifications you will not get back out of it. If money is not important then go for it. I do not know how many miles you have but if you have the V8 leave money for the timing belt and other maintenance. Also as my 03 is aging little things start needing replaced like the hood struts and some window seals. My transfer case is getting the common leak. My speedometer is starting to get off on longer trips, there is a thread about this. If you are handy at fixing things it can be fun to do these little projects. I only have 68k on mine but I realize as time goes by little things are going to become a problem. I do not like body lifts as they look funny to me with the frame and bumpers not lining up right and the frame showing to much.

Your plans sound pretty good. I personally would go with a true coilover kit for the front instead of the Toytec kit. You can see my thoughts in this post.

Also, I had the hankook ATMs and hated them. They were great for the first 10k miles, then got very loud for an AT tire. Traction was also terrible, especially in wet weather. I got rid of them with over half the tread left (20k miles) because I no longer felt safe driving on them. I had a couple close calls where I almost wrecked because I was sliding in the rain. My current duratracs are much more aggressive, but yet quieter and night and day better traction on and off road. I like Firestone destination ats for a mild AOL terrain tire, duratracs for a more aggressive tire.

I have to see what tires I have now. I know they are Hankook, but I am not sure what model. They work well, so perhaps they are another model.

Sounds like I have to read up on the lifts a little bit more.
