Got my ipod and missed a few goodies in the back seat (2 PS3 games, 6 1/2" pioneer speakers in box...) All for an ipod.
And no, the alarm didn't go off. After the cop finished his report I was walking away and pressed the lock button on my key fob...and laughed. I'm planning on getting the body work and lock fixed @ the dealership but wasn't sure if ayone had previous experiences with glass replacement from a dealership. It would be great if I could get it all done at the same place.
The door is jammed now. Looks like he tried the crow bar in the door, couldn't get it and moved to more effective means.

Yes it could be done at one place. It depends on your insurance company if you have the right to choose which body shop will repair your vehicle. If that was mine, i would get (all OEM) a new window, new door, new handle, new locks, new ignition along with new set of keys and fobs.

Toyota alarm, but I've been looking at aftermarkets for longer than I've had my 4runner. I guess I waited too long. Any suggestions on an effective yet affordable aftermarket alarm? Wouldn't mind having one with a remote starter for the sub freezing days ahead.

I have progressive (good people) and the guy working my claim said I can go anywhere I want with a $100 deduct. So instinctively I thought dealership.
You read my mind. Making sure it's all OEM was my first thought. Thanks for the reminder.

All the body shop has to do is, go online and start ordering. Hope they forget to put it on your carfax report. :lol:
Did you have a Toyota VIP alarm system? The reason I ask is just to clarify that only the Limited has some alarm-like features from the factory, like honking the horn and flashing the lights if someone opens a door without unlocking it properly first. The other trim levels just have the immobilizer, where the ignition senses the transponder chip in the key.

Just finished a huge fight with progressive TODAY on a bumper repair. They wanted to putty patch the plastic bumper cover, then replace with after market, then reman parts. It got pretty nasty before they finally blinked and agreed to all oem new parts. Demand oem even though I bet your policy has a clause buried that allows them to do so. They don't want the bad press associated with people finding out what really happens when you need them...

That freaking sucks! You never mess with another man's car. Hope you get her looking back like new soon. Find a good body shop and ask to put oem 4runner parts on your runner, quality is going to be much better and also fit.

The dealer and possibly bodyshop will most likely outsource the glass repair to a glass shop. So I don't think there's much of a difference of letting the dealer do the work.
When I had the windsheild replaced on my Camry, one dealer told me outright, you can bring it to us or a glass shop, the difference is you'll pay $100 more for us to call the glass shop to do the work.

That really sucks man. That`s why i dont lock my doors anymore. If someone wants in they will get in. It`s better when they dont bash out your window.

Question out of curiosity, not trying to say anything, but was your ipod easily visible from the outside? Or did the sh!thead go through the console/glovebox to find it? Wondering if there might be a reason why he/she chose your ride over others in the lot...
