It Works!!!

I just got my auto insurance renewal and my insurance DID NOT go up after getting a speeding ticket back in October.

This is what I did, I pleaded guilty and paid the fine by mail but made the check out for $10 more than the printed fine amount. When I received the refund check for the overpayment I DID NOT cash it.

To avoid getting tickets in the future I purchased an Escort Solo S2 radar detector (it works great and hardly get any false alerts) and spayed some Photo Blocker on my license plates.

I can now have some fun with my V8 without having to worry about getting any tickets.

I wonder if that trick works in every state. How much were you doing over the speed limit? Your insurance rates will only increase if you have points on your license. Some states don't give you points for 5-10 mph over the speed limit.

I have the Escort Solo S2 and it is an excellent radar. It has saved me numerous times. I agree with you that it eliminates those false signals.

I went 50 in a 35 mph zone. I'm sure that the cities that depend heavily on traffic fine revenues have systems in place where you cannot trick their driver records database.

Wounldnt it be just as safe to obey the speed limits and not even have to worry about tickets or cops?

Why would this work?? What is the rationale behind this??

If you write a check to the state for say, two dollars over the price, and do not cash the refund check, the transaction is not considered closed, and is not reported on your driving record.

Back in my street racing days, i got a careless driving and engaging in a speeding contest ticket. arrested and the whole deal
Long story short, my insurance rates actually went down afterwards even with 10 demerits (12 you lose your license in NV) The DMV said that some insurance compaines (Progressive) dont look at your driving record, just your credit score.

Same here, when i was in the street racing thing a while ago, it wasnt worth it to race or speed. Hell even driving normaly down the road would get you pulled over cuz of your car. I got out of that scene though, but i sure do miss the power of pasing a car at 130mph. But as you get older, you start to realize what you have to lose. You mature more, and think about life.

Yep. im getting out of the scene. Im actually selling my Type-R so that i can put a down on a new 4Runner
What year ITR? I traded in my RSX-S for my 4Runner. Miss that car. I put soo much money and work into it.

2001 PY...JDM front and all that...a love my car, but it sits more than it drives. so its time to move on...

sorry to hijack the tread

In my long career of getting speeding tickets, I have never had an insurance company find out about any of my tickets. The only time they find out is if you tell them about it such as in a new quote from a new company. You can't not tell them if they ask because that is fraud.

Supposedly, most companies do spot checks on their clients to check driving records, but I can almost guarantee you that no company out there pulls a DMV record on every one of their clients every year.

I doubt you have fooled them, but they probably won't find out about it unless you go to another company or change your policy.

Btw, knock on wood, it has been several years since I got caught speeding. I don't do it all the time like I used to though. Just in areas where i rarely see the law...

Oh...that's interesting...will definitely try that next time. Thanks.

Whatever I'm doing seems to work as well. I have 10 points on my record from a couple speeding tickets and I've been paying about $70/month for the 4runner. I'm 25 with Statefarm

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't start overpaying your tickets people. This is an old urban legend. It is 100% false.

Most auto insurance companies will not raise your rate when getting a ticket. Heck --- a lot of times they don't even know when you get a ticket. I had three speeding tickets in the period of 2 years and I never had my rates raised. The overpayment thing is a myth. All you are doing is providing your state or local municipality with more revenue.
