Its 3:15 AM and..........

I just dug my 4R out of the snow. I was wheeling in the nursery trails next to my house . about 10" of fresh snow with some old melted Ice chunks underneath.

My first snow stuck that I could not get out of. Thank god I was close to home for a shovel. I was not high centered , just had the front wheel hung over an old snow ridge.

I was disappointed I got stuck , I was blazing virgin trails and had to make a turn . I was going slow and in 4lo locked.

I think if I has some tire with some cleated sidewalls I would have been able to get out , but we'll never know............ just could not get traction and Atrac was working bits ass off.

It was 3am , that was the last thing from my mind at that time. I was pretty flexed though. I was trying to get traction and somehow slid and got wedged in between whatever.

Usually places Im not supposed to be....lol.

I used to go on trails on the old milwaukee county grounds off Watertown Plank RD and hwy45.

Now I try to find spots where I can .

What is snow?? I am in NJ and there were about three storms that could have been snow but turned to rain the last minute.

What type of 4R do you have , year model , ect.... We should get together and BS a little . See what we can figure out . Did you do any lifts on your truck ? Tires ? I like the off road but street snow wheeling in a huge storm can be fun too.

I went to the back of our property to see what happened , I had the right front over an ice ridge and hanging the left front tire , and the back to were on glare ice, I was going NO WHERE FAST. After I got unstuck I drove around in 4lo / locked on m,ore of the road's in there and did a couple hill climbs in lightly rutted hills , had no problem. Also was about 10-12+ drifted areas of snow on all the paths , I could see where I was belly draggin bit it didn't seem to slow the truck down , and Atrac really never had to kick in . The scary part of thes is the nursery has water retention ponds and I could not remember where they were and were snow covered and looked like anything else out there , so I little nerve racking. The truck did damn good IMO , even with tires that are not real aggressive and have 37k on them.

I have one that stays in the 4Runner from November through April and it has gotten me out of some pretty tough situations, I feel it is a must for anyone in a snowy area who likes to drive in the white stuff.

I go snow wheeling a lot by my self , not wise i know but , hopefully and so far I have not got stuck except that one time. came damn close though.

Falls, just carry a set of Super Z LT snow cables

They will cost you about $80 and will get you out of anything where you loose traction

I saw one of our colleagues above say get BFGs and I can say, if he meant BFG A/Ts (my favorite off road tire) on Ice they are not much good. Ive run BFG A/Ts on at least 4 previous 4x4s

On my 99 Chevy Tahoe, I put that into a snow bank riding on BFG A/Ts a few years ago when I worked in South Lake Tahoe.

Or if you realy like playing in snow, buy a second set of rims and real snow/ice tires they are awsome, but expensive and soft
