Its gone. Black ice hiding under chunks of snow took it down. Took out 5 support poles, a tree, some chains, and notched out another tree.

I was doing 30-35, with the speed limit being 30. Had my seatbelt on.

The other side of the road of where I stopped, which I hit first, was a 10' drop into a river. I thought I was going in.

Well, the pictures can speak for themselves.

Hope everyone was ok.

Sorry to hear that, but only hope that everyone got out.

Cars are only objects and that's what insurance is for. Just as long as folks are ok.

Yea I was driving home from school. Good thing I denied my friends rides.

Yes, Im ok. Not a single scratch. Was wearing my seatbelt, and was getting tossed around in the seat, but was still contained.

Well the important thing is that your ok. Is your Insuarance totalling the truck? If so, are you staying in the 4Runner family for your replacement vehicle? :)

Yea, police and body shop says the truck it totaled.

It was my mom's truck, and it looks like she's going to be getting the RX330 she;s always wanted.

I on the other hand, will be getting a jet black WRX.

good thing to hear that you are ok.. accidents happen, black ice is infamous for that.. just a good thing that you're ok..

Glad to hear that you're OK. Frustrating to have the accident, but as long as everyone is OK, that's really all that matters.

You said that there was ice under snow chunks? Meaning that there was still snow on the ground? And you were still driving at or above the speed limit???? 4Runner or Not, And 4WD or not, common sense dictates that you should drive slower than the speed limit under such condition?

I'm no snail when it comes to driving on dry pavement, but when the weather is bad, even though I have a V8, Sport, AWD, 4Runner, I still drive slower than the speed limit when there is "snow chunks" on the road.

I'm glad you made it out okay, but please be more careful next time. Rather than taking out a pole, you could have hit another car or, worse, a person.

Wow that really sucks, black ice is definitely worst than snow. I am in eastern Massachusetts. I have encounter some black ice patches here at night, this is where the Toyota's new vehicle stability system really comes in handy. It is one of the best system I have driven on the market, maybe with the exception of the Volvo's system. It help me to recover once already from black ice, it straighten out the truck pretty fast, but I drive like a grandma anyways in the snow.
BTW, if that was a WRX you were driving with its performance tires, you would have end up in the river.

Sorry to see that man, im glad you are ok. Ive had some interesting exp. driving in snow. Sometimes no matter how careful you are there is nothing you can do.

That really does suck! Such a cool truck too.

One question, why is the guy carrying a ladder in one of the pictures?

Glad you're okay.

Didn't a bunch of people on yotatech tell you this would happen sooner or later?

I defended you a few too many times over there apparently because you still don't get it.

Were you letting go of the wheel to let "physics do its thing"?

On a road like that, in that condition, you should have been going MUCH slower.

I'm glad you're okay and that no one was hurt, but I also hope you learned a lesson from this and that you're far more careful with your next vehicle. Especially if it doesn't belong to you.

I love the picture in your sig!

I am sorry for the loss, but ish happens, and like everyone else is saying... all that matters is that your ok, and noone else was harmed. Material Objects can be replaced, but a life is the different story.

Best of luck with your WRX and your mom with her RX330.

Yea, people did say I was going to wreck sooner or later, but then again, everyoen does. People do 45-50 on that road, EVEN ONE OF THE COPS THAT SHOWED UP AT THE SCENE AFTER WAS DOING 50. I knew that I wouldnt be able to take that speed, so I slowed down. I tried to countersteer the truck with my feet off th epedals, but that was useless. Im starting to think the tire blew before me losing control rather than after.

Its not me. ANYONE caught in that situation wouldve had the same results, if not worst.
