I'm in Jacksonville, FL and it took me 6 months to find my first one (limited V8 4WD) and had it shipped from VA only for it to be totaled 4 months later. I just now found another one and it is also being shipped right now but from TX. Both were from carmax, you pay a little more but they have warranty, certified, and the shipping price is very reasonable. While looking for the first one I learned so much (like you need to be QUICK) and if only I had a dollar for every time some idiot asked me "why do you want 4WD??" (umm.. because I do..) I could have bought 5 4runners! I started giving them an answer equally as stupid as their question, like "because it goes faster". Their faces were priceless, especially coming from a female I'm sure they thought I was serious. :biggrin1: Most of them seem to associate 4WD for snow only and since it doesn't snow in FL they were confused what I would 'need' it for. BEACHES! MUD! and I am also moving back to WA in a few months. I can't imagine what it feels like to have a big jacked up 2WD truck in FL and get stuck in the grass/mud on the side of the road after a heavy rain here in FL, which I've seen often. lol

Funny and sad, I had my '09 for 10 weeks and it was totaled. It's a right ***** finding a replacement. Though I'm this >< close to sealing the deal on a 07.

The one that is on it's way to me now is also an 07. It has a few more options than my 06 had and less miles for exact to the dollar sticker price. I'm trying to be positive about it and taking everything I learned looking for the first one and adding to it what I learned owning it. So this time around I am even more 'picky' and narrowed down with what I want when before I was open to things like v8 or v6 but after owning a v8 thats all I want and initially I really wanted the sunroof and was sad the 06 didn't have it, until it rolled a few times and now I'm not as concerned with having the sunroof lol. Really narrowing down the search criteria obviously gives less to choose from but at least when ones that do pop up are exactly what I want.

Thanks, I t-boned a left turning sedan. Totaled both vehicles. I'm hoping the '07 tomorrow is as nice as advertised. Lots of turds out there, few cherries.

Haha, that baby is sold! Ad is pulled, but still on the lot with a temporary tag on it, looked at it just now. Has one leaking CV boot, maybe new owner is having that replaced? I was thinking about buying it, sell this '07 PP.
Price listed was maximum retail ($19,960), would have offered $19k depending on resolution of leaking CV boot. XREAS, but no leaks I could see (I would have replaced it anyway), no RAS, no leaks in drivetrain, barely any surface rust underneath. Body had very minor nicks. Steering rack looked clean.
Doubt it had towed anything heavy, the 7-pin looked like it had never been used. Leather looked brand new. Michelin LTX's had good tread.
Ah well, probably would have cost me $5000 out of pocket with TTL, plus $2000 for a lift kit!

The person that called 911 said it rolled 7 times (not sure about that, I had my eyes closed lol) I was not driving, I was the front passenger. We were at highway speeds and some 75y/o lady was turning left and we slightly swerved to avoid hitting her dead on in the driver side door at probably 60+mph (we were passing someone) and the shoulder was grass and at an angle so when we hit the grass I saw that the dash was not horizontal with the road and I just closed my eyes, we ended up passenger side down about 100yards (said tow truck driver) from where we hit the lady. I had 3 nasty bruises and my head was sore/disorientated/short term memory not so good for a few days but other than that, not a scratch on me, didn't get knocked out either. The driver, not so much. He still 'walked away' as in no broken bones but he had road rash on the left side of his head and his left arm got cut up/scraped from the road/glass and he was knocked out hanging from his seatbelt over me. We were in the car for an hour before the ambulance showed up and he was in and out of it during that time.

I forgot to mention, when we drove by the accident site the next day to look for stuff that flew out of the car there was not a drop of fluid on the ground anywhere. When we stopped rolling and I opened my eyes the engine was shut off but the navigation was on and the lights and stuff. Which would have been a life saver if there weren't other people there because I had absolutely no clue where we were and it was dark. We were in the middle of the Ocala national forest, so deep they don't even get mail out there, so if I would have had to call 911 myself at least I would have been able to tell them exactly where I was.

I didn't try Carmax when I bought this '07 last year. Autotrader came through for me, decided on a Thursday I'd sell the Tundra 4.7 4WD and buy a 4Runner 4.7 Limited 4WD. On Saturday one popped up on Autotrader at a dealer 20 miles away, 100k miles, local one owner truck, timing belt replaced, clean Carfax. Bought it Monday AM.
I had a very narrow search also, only 2005-2009 V8 Limited 4WD. I guess I got lucky with a quick buy on a narrow search. I bought it from the same dealer that originally sold it new and had done all the maintenance on it.
I paid full retail ($18,600) didn't quibble much because they had put a new steering rack on it, it was clean, no leaks, good leather, hadn't towed heavy (I open the 7-pin cover and look to see if the pins show wear).
Plus I learned a long time ago if you see something hard to find, it's what you want, and it's right in front of you, jump on it, don't try to get too cute because there is somebody right behind you in line for it.

No fooling ! Scary stuff. Glad it wasn't worse.
Didn't leak either, wrecker operator said he drove it onto the bed....
Quite a bit of hidden damage, including frame damage, noticeable once the hood was popped.
Sold me, that's why I'll buy another 4runner.

Glad ya'll walk away pretty much unscathed, but from looking at the photos the airbags never deployed??
Sorta of unnerving to me that they didn't deploy!!

That's exactly what we said, but at the same time I almost feel like I would have been hurt worse if they (the front impact ones) did come out. That one also didn't have the side curtain airbags because they were still optional in 2006. We also didn't hit the other car head on, we just almost missed it totally and thats why I'm thinking they didn't come out because there wasn't really a front impact, it was more on the corner.
After being in three angular collisions with modern cars, none of which had air bag deployment I'll go out on a limb and say that I don't believe the hype.
Only one of the three resulted in fractures and surgery, and I'll never own another GM because of it. The other two had the front of the vehicle I was in disintegrate with no deployment.
The Nissan and the Toyota were walk aways, the Saturn wasn't.
Two of the three were within the same weight classes, one collision wasn't. Yet in all three the vehicles were totaled due to age or damage.
Drive like your life depends on it, modern safety is nice, but don't count on it.
PS The front of the 4runner 'came up' on the hood of the other vehicle, Iam certain if i had a rigid steel bumper the carnage would have been worse. Energy absorbing bumpers work.

Yah, I hit pretty good on this '07. Whoever got that '08 Limited V8 4WD I mentioned above probably hit pretty good also. That was sold fast, I think two days on the market and it was sold.

That's a nice runner.
My wife just picked up a 04 GX470. Low mileage 120k, very clean 2 owner, California-Colorado car. All maintance done at Lexus dealers at proper intervals. $12,700. It looks like it was never off pavement and was traded in on a new GX470 by a happy owner. The kind I like to find. My wife loves it. It a great vehicle . They might be worth a look. I find it a bit too plush and kind of bubbly up top. Drives pretty much like a V8 runner and if perhaps a bit higher quality If possible.
Only difference is braking is more sensitive on the lexus versus the 4runner V8. I didn't like it if I accidentally tapped the brake and it stopped very quickly for me, my 4runner wouldn't do that.

That's not my experience. Both my sport edition and my wife's GX470 have excellent brakes that don't fade, respond well in all conditions, and never grab. Maybe you have a sticky caliber issue?

I couldn't resist buying that '08 Limited V8 I posted about above. It's in nicer shape than my '07. The leather is literally like brand new, no scuff marks on the side bolsters like you usually see. They agreed to replace the CV boot (which can be done at an Autonation Toyota dealer) and gave me a 90 day 4k mile warranty.
"No Haggle" dealer, had to pay full retail $19,444. Everything works, tested the center diff lock and 4lo. Timing belt replaced by a Toyota dealer at 91k miles, 97k on it now.
2008 was what I wanted last year for the VSC Off button, settled for the '07. This has Nav and backup camera also. I saw they had three appointments for test drives today, when I got back on the lot there was a guy started looking at it as we walked into the showroom to talk about if they'd replace the CV boot.
That XREAS is a nice suspension system, feels pretty stiff. I'll replace it because I need a lift. Stock doesn't have good enough approach and departure angles. Maybe I can sell the XREAS components.
Anybody that's interested in the '07 or the XREAS components PM me. 108k miles on the '07, timing belt and water pump replaced at 65k miles, diffs and transfer case fluid replaced with Amsoil synthetic at 100k, everything works, will price it at $17,000. Color is gold, I'd call it 'very good' condition overall.
