It's amazing how hard it is to find a low mileage 4Runner 4WD

I couldn't resist buying that '08 Limited V8 I posted about above. It's in nicer shape than my '07. The leather is literally like brand new, no scuff marks on the side bolsters like you usually see. They agreed to replace the CV boot (which can be done at an Autonation Toyota dealer) and gave me a 90 day 4k mile warranty.

"No Haggle" dealer, had to pay full retail $19,444. Everything works, tested the center diff lock and 4lo. Timing belt replaced by a Toyota dealer at 91k miles, 97k on it now.

2008 was what I wanted last year for the VSC Off button, settled for the '07. This has Nav and backup camera also. I saw they had three appointments for test drives today, when I got back on the lot there was a guy started looking at it as we walked into the showroom to talk about if they'd replace the CV boot.

That XREAS is a nice suspension system, feels pretty stiff. I'll replace it because I need a lift. Stock doesn't have good enough approach and departure angles. Maybe I can sell the XREAS components.

Anybody that's interested in the '07 or the XREAS components PM me. 108k miles on the '07, timing belt and water pump replaced at 65k miles, diffs and transfer case fluid replaced with Amsoil synthetic at 100k, everything works, will price it at $17,000. Color is gold, I'd call it 'very good' condition overall.

I picked up my first 4th gen this past weekend, drove to Albuquerque to get it (live in South Denver area) just because the prices are a few thousand less and worth the drive IMO. I may have taken a look at that one had it been around last weekend.

I'm so jealous! I was watching that one wishing it was closer to me! Today I went and looked at the 07 that was being shipped from Texas and unfortunately my gut was right... there was a reason all the other people passed it up. Full of rust, I'm talking every single piece of exposed metal/bolt was covered. Bald tires with dry rot, engine smelled like a burning rubber glove and as I came to a stop at the last Red light before turning into the lot that wonderful rear drive shaft thunk showed itself (worst I've felt in all the ones I've driven), in addition to a few other things as well. I was so disappointed, was almost in tears. :cry2::cry2::cry2:

Well, I have a nice '07 that will be for sale once I get the lift on the '08. I'll have to wait a month or so to sell the '07 because it will be my daily driver while I'm fixing up the '08.

The '07 is a nice vehicle, somebody will be getting a great truck when they buy it.

Whoa. I maybe was too hasty buying the 2008 because it appears the SAIP bypass doesn't work on the 2008.

SAIP failure is a nasty problem to have. It appears that Toyota reflashed the PCM on 2008 4.7's to make a kind of maybe correction. The Carfax on this 2008 shows a PCM reflash. This '08 may be back on the market again quickly.

Anybody that has insight to SAIP problems on 2008 4.7's please chime in.

EDIT: Nevermind, Jeff says it should work, and this '08 behaves the same as my '07. I get the "oomph" shortly after a cold startup. I thought it might be like newer model Tundras and Tacomas where the SAIP cycles after engine shutdown and apparently the bypass kit doesn't work with that setup.

EDIT AGAIN: Slyfox SAIP bypass kit works fine on this 2008 4.7L. I installed the slyfox bypass kit on this 2008 4.7l and it works fine. Don't have the "oomph" sound on cold startup after the install, no codes. The fusebox and MAF wiring are the exact same as the 2007. Unrelated, but one difference I noticed on this '08 is on the driver side of the brake master cylinder there is a hand-size metal hook. On the '07 there's the same hook but it's pinkyfinger size. Must be related to the 'VSC Off' button on the 2008 model. There's a different Part Number on the '08 master cylinder - 2007 is 89541-35050, 2008 is 89541-35051.

Did a search today for 2009's out of curiosity. There isn't any 2009's nationwide on carguru or autotrader. Plenty of 2008's. What, was there limited production while Toyota was gearing up for the 5th Gen?

Recession hit and gas was super expensive.

Going to try to find production numbers by year. They sold like 100,000 in a year in the early 4th gen. Later it was a fraction of that. The depression, er, recession was no joke!!

Wow, 2008 and 2009 sales combined were 20,000 less than 2007 sales. A 2009 is a rare vehicle, especially a V8.

Well I just bought an '07 sport V8 with 139k miles, and didn't even think twice. It was female owned and had every service record documented including gear fluid service and T-belt done at 98k miles. It rides and drives like brand new with close to zero wear on anything except the driver side seat bolster. Mileage on a 4runner is nothing if you have decent service records, and even without records, its not that big of a deal. Check the condition of the paint and interior, within 30 seconds you'll be able to tell how it was treated.

Toyota simply makes the best vehicles out there. Read The Toyota Way, you'll realize why.
