Well boys and girls, it's been a great run. My beloved 4runner was t-boned and rolled by someone who ran a stop sign. I sustained muscular injuries but all things considered, it could've been a lot worse.

I've learned so much from the awesome community here and my 4runner was what I first learned to wrench on—in large part thanks to this group. So, thanks for everything and I'll probably be back! I'm gonna take some time for insurance to sort out and then shop around. Some of the items seen on my rig will be for sale in Central VA. I'll be posting them in the classifieds this week.

That is sad to see but no point dwelling on it I suppose. The important thing is you're ok. Muscles heal fast just do whatever PT they give you and keep moving to avoid scar tissue building. You'll be fine and you already got the mechanic experience from this one so your next truck will go easier.

Noooooooo!!!!!! This is hearbreaking to see. I am terribly sorry this happened to you, but I'm glad you're alive. I'm up in Northern VA, about 2~ hours north of you. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to reach out, from one stranger to another. Hope to see you get another rig or something. I'll keep my eyes peeled on the classifieds section as well.

Thanks guys. Surprisingly, it was an Infiniti sedan. I actually used to drive a similar one so I happen to know they're heavy, but not that big. I didn't have much time to assess their speed between when I saw them and when I turned upside down, but I'd estimate 30+ mph at the least.

Crazy how formidable a brick at 30-35 MPH can be on another brick

Are you going to buy it back and transfer your upgrades and parts to another 3rd Gen?

Very sorry to hear that but no need to say goodbye! Undiscovered T4Rs are out there and I'm about to leave a note on the window of a 98? SR5 5-speed that seems to be unloved in my hood. I have noticed a severe degradation in driving skill/care over the last few years and especially during Covid. Seems like LEOs are no longer prioritizing flagrant moving violations like they used to - at least here in this city. "The light's red? - FU - you're lucky I don't pop a couple off in your direction" is the attitude I see (well you can't see because they are all running suuuuuper-dark tint) When all the Uber/Lyft/Doordash/Grubwhatevers sprung up and started doing unannounced mid-block u-turns at will, sh1t went downhill fast. It's a demo derby out there. I hate them all. I do realize people need to hustle to make ends meet, but going Road Warrior to get something delivered to lazy app-holes is not a job skill, nor is the Phd in Double Parking y'all are working on. Glad you are OK and weren't seriously injured. Were they insured?

I'm leaving it open as a possibility, but I'm not positive I'll be getting into another 3rd gen, so I may just let the salvage yard gods bless some college kid with some good condition parts.

I've noticed the same in town here, lots more blatant disregard for road safety etc. The person who t-boned me was just a kid. Couldn't have been older than 18. Hopefully this will be a learning experience...

Yep thankfully insured. Working through it all now. Of course a headache but as others have said, much better than severe injury!

Defensive driving is crucial these days you have to just assume everyone is going to do the dumbest scenario you can think of. Sometimes there's not much you can do... a couple years ago 2 kids got crushed while stopped at a turn and a cement truck took the turn too fast and rolled over on top of them, was really sad. I cringe now when I see those trucks turning. Pay attention in your drive way too. I don't ever have any vehicles or small kids to worry about in my drive way and got very complacent about properly checking when I back out of the garage. I did this to my daughter's boyfriend's Honda Fit the first time he came to meet me :bounce: Felt like a complete idiot but he took it well and stayed for dinner.

yep , defensive driving is critical, esp up here where people treat red lights as a slow but go...more like a yellow.

Very sorry about the loss of your Gen-3. Hope your recovery is swift and complete. Do not waste ll of your accumulated knowledge--if not a Gen-3 at least a T4R.
