Its like I have a brand new 4Runner!

So this weekend was spent on tuning up my 4Runner. We replaced the U-Joints, replaced wires and spark plugs and changed the transmission fluid and all the filters.

So about $200 later, she runs great and I couldn't be happier! Hopefully I'll get a little better fuel mileage too.

Probably did help your gas mileage -nicely done.

Seems weird you would need U-joints, how high mileage is the truck?

Springs and Shocks

If you replace your springs and shocks, that will really blow your mind. the stock parts wear out in about 30 to 50k miles and get sloppy

then you will really see a huge difference

It has about 95k miles. I was getting a really bad vibration going over 60-65 mph so we checked it out and it was in pretty bad shape.

Stock suspension is fine til about 80k on 3rd gens then it starts to show it's age. My mom has 90k on her '99 Limited and her's just started to feel quite a bit different than my updated shocks and coils and mine have about 20k on them but of course towing alot and off roading a may shorten that firm life a bit.

Either way at 95k you should think of replacing the shocks and coils soon as it will be a big improvement.

great this makes me worried. i have 133k on mine. lol although an older lady drove it around before i got it...hmm....

I'd do it all at once so the suspension ages evenly.

Wouldn't that all be based on how the vehicle has been used ? I bought mine used and it had been used 100% on the highway ,don't think it ever saw a gravel road even . It has just over a 100K right now and sure seems nice and tight still ,never uses a drop of oil and has remained 100% trouble free.
