It is a recession and it was/is caused buy people extending their credit beyond their means and taking on mortgages that had adjustable arms. Bush haters will try to blame it on him, but that is expected. The war did not create the recession either. Most Americans don't care that we are at war as long as they have cheap gas, cell phones and Tivo. We do not know what it means to sacrifice any longer. We expect to have in our thirties what our parents had in their fifties. I am just as guilty as the next guy but it is not the govt's fault. Yet we expect the govt to come bail us out of our own poor decisions. We can not last too much longer as a nanny state. Will someone please put this soapbox away wo I can go back to drooling over al of your cool T4R's :bigok:

+1 to your insight!! You nailed it right on the head. The government acts that way -- living beyond its means and financing everything through deficit (debt) spending, so why should we be surprised when individual citizens do it as well? We have definitely become a debt-based society.
Far too many people think that they could "refinance" their houses, take out fifty grand in cash without their payment jumping and that it would somehow be "free" with no fiscal consequences. Who are they fooling, Sparky?

The "nanny state" is alive and well........and we are likely to see the expansion of government at all levels if the trend is not reversed. It is no longer a Democrat vs Republican thing as it once was. We cannot get anywhere by trading a left-wing welfare state for a right-wing nanny state. Until we get spending under control (regardless of whatever taxation system may be in place), return to a constitutional republic and honor our Bill of Rights once again, our country's future will be questionable.
Okay, I am off my soap box and back to reading about 4Runner-related stuff.

P.S. Oh, I live right up the road from Colonial Heights. I was stationed at Fort Lee twice (many, many, many moons ago) with the Quartermaster Corps. With your 10th Mountain Division logo, I assume you are from Fort Drum, NY. That's the next best thing to actually being in Canada!

Cool. I had a 2005 4Runner for three years (leased), which I recently turned back in........but I am still a fan of them. Ironically, I now have a 2008 Ford Mustang GT - since I owned three of them in my 'younger' days and promised myself I would have another when my son grew out of being a little kid. He's nine now, so he appreciates the fun aspects of a Mustang GT - although it doesn't have a lot of legroom in the back seat area!
I have an 2002 Nissan Sentra (four-door) that serves me fine for commuting and getting groceries, etc., etc., or driving in poor weather. The GT ain't going out in snow!
Anyway, welcome to the Communistwealth of Virginia. You'll find a lot of former military people in this area. Since Colonial Heights is near Fort Lee, I assume that you'll be making frequent trips to the commissary (if you're still in the reserve component). Oh, what is 'Armybass'? Were you in the band or something.......or do you just like to fish?

P.S. I used to live in Upstate NY (Hudson Valley/Newburgh area) in the late 1970s. Too c-c-c-cold for me in the winter months!

Yes sir, I was in the Army Band. That did not keep me from toting an M16 in full battle rattle down the streets of Bosnia in 1999 and 2000 however. If you are a part of the 10TH MTN DIV, you rol when they roll and they roll a lot. I miss upstate NY. I am from New Orleans but I loved my 5 years as a New Yorker. Beautiful country up there. But I knew that Virginia was the place I wanted to get out and make my home. I was a History major in college with my emphasis on the Civil War. There could be no better place for me than central VA. I also love the weather here. So I will eal with the influence from Northern VA and the big cities. I have two boys, 12 and 5 and we like the environment down here south of the river. I am sure that your 9 year old will always remember dad's Mustang.
