Posted about a rust issue yesterday and one of the guys put me on the TSB for it. Made an appointment with the service manager at my dealership and they agreed that it is Toyotas problem and will be repainting the whole liftgate and will give me in writing that if it reappears they will replace it. He was impressed that I had the TSB and I'm sure that is why he so quickly agreed to fix it!! Thanks you guys!! You know who you are!!!

No. TSBs are only performed if the issue exists while under the 3yr/36k mile warranty. Most dealers will not perform a TSB just because the TSB is out there, i.e. if there's no rust on your hatch (even though your 4Runner's VIN is covered by TSB), they're not going to swap license plate garnishes, etc.

I have to take a look at the Platinum warranty documentation to be certain. Without reading it in depth, I would say it does, since the Platinum warranty is an extension of standard bumper to bumper warranty.

I read through the Plat Warrenty info and they list "Rust/Corrosion" as something that is NOT covered. (I'm @ 53,000)

After this harsh winter my liftgate rust has started to pick up the pace and is now streaking down the paint. IT'S A DAMN 07! So I'm going to see if they'll do it anyway. Does anyone have a PDF of that particular TSB they could send me? It may help to have it when I head out there.

VICTORY!! Went into my local Toyota Service Center today (Toyot West Columbus, Ohio) and they said they'd take care of my rear lift gate even with 55,000 miles on my vehicle. They said when I bring it in it should be a 3 day turn around.

Got my 4runner back today - looks great and they did a FULL DETAIL at no charge!!!!!! I'm a happy camper. Have been looking at Venzas lately but I think I'll hang on to the 4runner. Just looks to awesome to give up!!:lookout:
