Ivan Stewart TRD Rims

I was able to find a set of the Ivan Stewart TRD rims for $400 locally. Are they worth it anymore? I have been reading horror stories of people not being able to balance them, the center caps just coming off or the finish just going to hell. The rims already have the cracking clear coat around the lip so they will need to be sanded down and painted before being put on. I would say the rims are a 8/10 and need a little work.

Would I be better off spending $400 towards a brand new set of rims or just keep my 5 spokes and call it a day? My 5 spokes are in awesome condition. They will be going on a 2000 Silver w/ Limited style flares. Seems that these once awesome rims Ivan Stewart rims have lost a little luster over the years.

Wrex- my IVS took some weight to balance but they balanced. The center caps are a PITA to snap in and you basically just leave them on. Also the center cap opening that they snap into is smaller diameter then the rest of the hub center and wont allow the factory spare tire carrier to feed through(at least not on my 98). This didn't matter much to me as I have a rear tire carrier. I have lost two caps due to breaking the tabs when snapping them on. I have also had one center cap loose the aluminium skin and just have the plastic portion left.

Personally I love the looks of my Ivans even though they now have tons of rock rash and would get them again. The 5 spokes you have are also one of the better looking rims IMO and if you just want a fresh look then maybe paint or powder coat them to change color.

Tons throughout my posts and trip reports but here are a couple. Trailer is a new project and will end up Ivans also.

Those do look pretty damn good I do admit. Even without the center caps they look good. Have you had any issues with them rubbing on your UCAs? Also, how much more do they stick out. I am guessing they are similar to running a 1.25 spacer consider the backspacing and width. What size tires are you running with them?

I am running 285/75's the upper control arm clearance is moot since I am running aftermarket arms. Didn't really notice them sticking out more but made the change at the same time I upgraded to the 285's.

***EDIT***
Look in the American T4R clubs So Cal tab, August Run and one of the last pages you can see Traumahawks rig with Ivans also.

Ivans TRD's

That's a good deal for the rims. New they are over $200 each. I sold my factory Limited rims and bought the Ivans. I like the look and that they are 16" rims.

Those are the ones. I would jump on those to be honest. The ones I am getting are $400 but in pretty good condition. They look like they need a little work but still worth it.

I really like Zachpins34 black IS. I'm pretty sure those IS in colorado is another members reselling them. He got them for a good deal, but not 100% its his.

Yes you are correct, they take a splined TRD lugnut. 25-35 per pack of 5. good thing is you wont need wheel locks.
