I've got the HID bug...3K HID for fogs possible??

I just installed my Xenon Depot XtremeWhite 4300K Phillips Kit in my lows....Awesome...blown away....

what can I do with my fogs? Obviously the most functional color is 3K....but its a reflector housing...not projector in the 2006. Would an HID 3K yellow Kit work well in the reflector fog housing? Or...the same crap, too much glare?

What the best options for the 2006 fogs? I currently have the HIR bulbs in there...but if yellow is the best for functionality then I'm all for it...if I can get away with HID 3K in my reflector fogs...then I'll place more order immediately.

yellow is better for fog & hid may be too powerful to do what the fogs were meant to. you can paint the clear housing lense yellow instead of buying different bulbs. now if you want them to function as driving lights, get the hids & keep them white.

It looks nice......but.....it looks like there's still too much glare. I suppose there is no way of getting away from the glare when using HID for the fogs.

It would be cool if someone using yellow HIDs would chime in...I'd like to hear their opinion especially about glare.

I've had some drivers flash me every once in a blue moon with the HID lows. But I haven't gotten anymore flashes while driving with the fogs on. Probably because the fogs are a bit lower, so even though there is glare, it's not as bad.

Maybe check with the vendor and see if they have a D2R version, rather than D2S for the HID capsule.

So 3K and the fact that they are lower in the vehicle makes for a better situation, though there is still some glare right?

I've personally got the Putco Jet yellow bulbs installed in my car and love them!

do you have any pics? I installed some bulbs from ebay and I love the yellow. Got those as a cheap way to test the look so I'm sure they'll need replacing in not too long.

any affect on the factory warranty when I put one of your kits in? That's what's keeping me back for now, that and $ going to other mods.

Sorry I missed this. You're correct, the R bulbs are for reflector based HID housings and capsule itself has a band around it. The D2S bulbs don't have this. (R is for reflector, S is for sheild (the cut off sheild found in projectors).)

Hi Guys,

D2S vs D2R: We have done various experimentations with D2S/R bulbsand for a retrofit
application or OE application outside of Europe the D2R bulb is not required. The stripe on the D2R lamps helps hide the salts which would appear as parasitic images in the light dark transition area of the European Assymetric dip pattern. On a retrofit or DOT beam pattern (Your headlight) you do not have this light dark transition requirement therefore the D2S bulb is just fine for any application.

I purchased an H11 4300k Xtreme Philips Xenon HID Conversion Kit from you guys about a year ago for my '06 T4R Limited. I traded in my '06 for an '08 Limited a couple of weeks ago, but have yet to install the HID's. I'll probably be doing that this weekend. I love these lights and ever since I got them, I've been wanted to upgrade my fogs. I do like the looks of the yellow fog as seen in uneek's pics, but not too sure if I want to go HID.

Reading this thread got me thinking about the Putco Jet Yellow Halogen bulbs that you mentioned. Do you have pics? I see you have 9006 and 9006xs available, what is the difference between the two?

I have the 9006 Putco Jet Yellow in my Fogs. I love them. They are fantastic in the rain too.

Those look a lot better than the ones I grabbed off ebay, I think I'll grab a set next time the cash is laying around but for now, it's saving up for other t4r stuff
