this has cost me a little bit of cash in the end (3k or so) and last week i almost went postal on the guy taking 20 mins to order his coffee because i was so stressed with everything going on, and to be clear the truck getting smashed wasn't really stressful within itself , but the things that are part of that , like dealing with insurance, towing services, finding a new car,dealing with the new dealership, and so on and so forth......

really though my insurance company has been great paid out with little effort and are going back and giving me a bit more cash for a few things that i missed originally.....dude i had alot of little $50-100 extras that i completely forgot about....


today was the first day that i started to have any fun with it, talked with Carl at justdifferentials.com for about an hour and finally settled on a radflo coilover in the front and billies in the back with some LC coils at a really good price which may leave me money left over for a winch or the baja rack i was looking at !!!

That is fun huh!:jump:

so yeah, sometime next week i'll update this thread with the on going build of the new one or maybe just start a new build thread all together, what do you guys think? keep adding here or kick off something new?

also opinions on the suspension i went with, haven't heard much about them but Carl sells both king and radflo and said for what i had to spend they are the way to go and had them valved for my 4runner setup (arb,winch ect).
i'm really looking forward to a proper coil over and bill setup over the OME i came from before!

I say start a whole new build thread but have it include why (with pics of course) you are building another one.

While not my favorite Stone Beer (of San Diego) it is one of the more popular because it has a h3ll of a lot of character.


Man that is bad luck; did you piss off the powers-that-be somehow?

haha, yeah kind of, we were expecting inclimate weather and had out camp set up for it so when the storm came we having fun yelling into the wind, we were yelling quotes from Forrest Gump, just like captain dan....lol...

so we kind of deserved it in a way...i think, lol, and funnily enough the other girl that was camping with us (it was just me,my wife and her friend) was coming back over the pass this weekend when she caught a rock on the freeway that broke her fan and destroyed her radiator,had to take 6 hours from my day to sort them out, lol, so i'm starting to think we shouldn't be hanging around her anymore, she might be the terrible luck that is tracking us down! haha



side note: got the ARB, head-unit installed and am going to pick up my radflo/billie lift today, i'm putting a new build thread together as we spoke and i'll get it up sometime in the next week, i got to do the work first, haha

First off, I am glad to hear everyone is safe. I have nothing but great things to say about allstate, my Scion was totaled about two years ago and they paid me for everything on the car, and I mean everything. I had a check within 4 days of the estimator coming out, and they paid me double what I thought the car would be worth. Just goes to show that paying a little extra every month is totally worth it!

give him a call and work it out with him on price, also let him know i'm coming by at noon today to drop the head rests and the old h/u off and i'll grab your bits and get them out to you tomorrow , i left my phone at home today so can't call myself.

Sorry to hear about your 4r Gald you all were ok! Congrats on the great find did you get the motor issues worked out. I had a 01 mica sport with locker miss it till this day! The 11 TE comforts me though! :)

nope, not yet, keep an eye out in about 2 weeks then i'll post something up, i got my bumper,lights,lift,winch, and tires on and that's about it, i have a few things in the works that would make a nice build thread, just not quite there yet!

yeah, motor looks to have been the MAF was on it's way out along with some really old spark plugs, looking to do some wires,02 sensor,irs mod, ball joints,tre's,steering rack, poly bushes all the way around, lubes and fluids among a bunch of other things to get the truck up to snuff, got dual battery relay sitting in the stables along with a triband ham radio setup as well, just need to get the stuff shoe horned in there somehow, so like i said build thread coming soon!
 
Man...Way to not die!

Quite an adventure, and the pic of the log-on-Runner at the bar is an all-timer.

Can't wait to see the new build --it sounds awesome. I'm working on a 'questions about my potential new build' thread ha!

actually almost everything was still good, granted the roof,doors,glass and rear seats were crushed but the frame was straights, all of the shocks and coils held up great, rear diff locker still works like a charm, pops in and out of 4wd nicely still, rear axles are dry ....so yeah everything that was not body metal was fine, i really can't believe it didn't bend the frame or damage the rear axle, the pics just don't do it justice as to what actually happened, the whole truck bounced 1~2 ft in the air after the initial impact and ended up smashed so hard against the ground the the spare tire left an imprint in the dirt where it was hit......i know what the haters say and i know what i saw when the tree hit and i know what i've seen in the deconstruction of the truck since, i really cannot believe just how well the truck stood up to everything in the end.:trophy:

if i can ever get the pics off my phone i'll show you guys where my buddy has flat-bedded it ...i'll post those up in a bit
