Semi-float rear ends don't roll very well with no rear diff. The axle shaft lever point relies on the diff for support.

Would be a lot of work, but you could swap the old axle for the locked one.

and a new chapter begins........
1999 4runner limited 174k rear diff lock, spec for spec the exact same truck as i just lost but with 80k less miles.....
only issues were a worn drivers seat split on the side, rotors are very slightly out and a few scratches here and there, all and all not bad , a sight better then the old girl that just went out....
i just want to say, the now crushed 4runner was a big part of my life my parents bought it basically new with a total of 150 some odd miles on it, that truck took me to soccer games when i was a kid, on dates as a teenager, prom, trips to college and back, i was in the truck when i met my wife (coffee stand girl back then, lol) , road trips all over the Western us, national park after national park, drove me on my 4,000mi road trip and back home...drove me home every time, this was my parents family car, my family car, it will always have a fond place in my heart ,right up there with my first car, and i'm sure i'll be telling my grandkids about it...f'ing toyota....that said....time to make new memories
sssoooooo.... it does look like i will be needing to have a seattle t4r meet at my place to swap this over, beers and brawts provided and a bonfire, let's figure this out, lol

Thats the worst part about this whole thing.
Its the sentimental value of the truck. You may have traded for a truck with way less miles, but also way less memories (sounds gay as hell when I read that to myself, lol) but its true.

lol, sorry man, you're right , i've just gotten slammed by people circling for parts, not that i entirely blame them, i'm not much better my self, casting stones and all that, you know haha...anyways, yeah whatever man, i'll have the truck here so bring your gloves and sawzalls and let's see what we can do!!!

man it was a close call on that one as well, i just bought a house about 2 months ago, so i was getting my home owners insurance and was strongly considering going to liability, when they where talking about bundling home and car, well i already had full coverage car insurance with another company and just told them to go with what i already had so i could try to get a better comparison, long story short even on liability only the home owners insurance company couldn't compete on value, so i stuck with what i had and didn't bundle, but again i've had this same insurance company for years as well...

This hits close to home... fellow Silver 99 Ltd owner from Sno Co here. Been out that way before too but never in a wind storm luckily.
Unsure whether I should show this to my wife... One the one hand, it proves how tough the rig is (awesome). On the other, she'll probably never want to go out camping again! (I pretty much have to drag her out into the forest as it is, lol)
Anyway I'd be interested in paying a visit to see the carnage/help out/whatever. Hope the new rig is as good to you as the last.

right, i kind of feel like it was some sort of weird fate almost, to have my truck destroyed then to happen to have a exact match for the truck before for sale in my price range, in good condition, right by me.....strange...strange world we live in ....lol
yeah, looking to get together out by 3 lakes in snohomish weekend of july 14th? does this work for everyone?
