Some of my favorites. These were taken along the Texas Coastline near Surfside.

This was taken in the Texas Hill Country Natural Area near Bandera TX. For all of you guys near San Antonio, I'm there all of the time. It's a great place with great camping, running/MTN bike trails.

Don't want to distract from the awesome pics but was curious how you like your OME set up?
Thanks

For the kind of driving that I do it's perfect. I wanted to be able to carry extra weight, provide ground clearance, something low maintenance, and extremely reliable...NOT TO SAY THAT OTHER APPLICATIONS AREN'T (I don't want to start a war on my thread). The installation was a breeze...I knocked it out in about 6hrs in my garage, which was nice!

I think the most important thing is to look at how you intend to use your vehicle now and what you plan on doing to it in the future.

hahaha...I know man, my bad. I've been super busy! I promise to start posting the data! I will tell you that I try NOT to process the photos as much as some would think. My buddy who is a Sniper turned Photographer, whom has taught me a lot, has always followed the mantra that you should take the time to frame the shot, and wait for the correct light, and then if need be, edit, but make only minor changes.

BUT!!! sometimes it's fun to see what it would like to edit the hell out of them. In the end, it's important that the image looks the way YOU want it to. The way you pictured it in your head.....

I know there are a ton of manuals, youtube vids, and books out there that will help/guide you...but nothing beats getting out there and shooting. For me, having a buddy who's a professional photographer didn't hurt.

I always shoot in raw, and will use both photoshop and lightroom to process. I love lightroom.

It was a pretty lazy weekend. I camped...as usual. As you can see, I pack light. The Big Agnes 1p tent is light, just around a pound, but its tight. Kind of an interesting perspective.

The last photo makes me so proud I took the time to do the full LED swap. It first I didn't know if it was more for looks or utility. I prefer utility over anything and honestly, it's one I recommend to everyone. The back hatch is extremely bright!! Cloudy and rainy all weekend.

Ok, so outside of photography I'm a runner, specifically an ultra runner. Meaning I typically run races/routes in excess of 26.2 miles. One of my biggest enjoyment are solo self supported two-three day runs which typically total around the 75 mile mark. How does this relate to the 4runner....well, it gets me there and since most of the places are fairly remote, the scenery isn't that bad.

Here's a short clip of a route I've taken several times at Guadalupe national park. 16-20 miles with (on average) 9000-10000 feet of elevation change. Sometimes it gets pretty hairy since I like to take the route "less traveled". The trips usually involve a 9hr drive through the night. Half a day reconnoitering the area or the route and then the run....followed by a 9hr drive back home.

Here's the link!!

PS: don't make fun of the shorts!!

So all we have to do is find the book you're reading to discover the key to great photographs. The secrets out now.

You know it!!!

It's actually not that bad. It's called "composition" by Laurie excell. It's got a assignments in there that force you to shoot outside of what you usually do. Personally I like landscapes, and the plopping my subject...in this case my rig, somewhere in the middle. My goal is to showcase the landscape. That's why I rarely post up close and personal shots.

JBlick,

footage was pretty cool, amazing scenery! Wish I had the drive to do an ultra... I'll stick w my 10ks...

ps. my ranger panties are much shorter! ha.

Cool video !! thanks for sharing.

That is some crazy stuff you are doing. We saw a similar run (race) when we were out on a run (wheeling) in southern Cali, 100 mile run. These guys were in pitch dark, dodging trucks/bikes in 20 degree weather on the cliffs of mountains. That is dedication and a little bit of insanity :)

As a photography professor I think I can safely say that your skills are far better than what you can acquire from just reading a book. Great stuff man!

Also, if you're looking for more books that speak to the photographic "eye," I would check out "Storytellers" by Jerod Foster. Jerod is the other photo prof here at Tech and that book changed the way I approach shooting.
