Where's Bear during your runs? Obviously it would be kinda hard for him to run with you when you're almost falling off the cliff! Is he just patrolling the 4R when you run? Regardless, awesome video! I am in awe at how much of an adventure you're having. Thanks for bringing us along by sharing! Stay safe!

It's funny you ask that...that was the first thing a lot of my friends asked me when I got a Doberman.
During the summer, I've got a really great sitter who lets him out. He was an abused rescue, so I'll be damned if he'll ever see the inside of a kennel again. Dobermans are also extremely sensitive...it's actually pretty sad, so he has to stay in an extremely familiar area.
During the winter, it's GO TIME! I bring him everywhere. If I know it's going to be a long, solo run then he stays at home, but if it's just camping/photo stuff, he's there. It's gotten so bad that he prefers to be in the truck because he knows it's his.
I try my best to break the stigma of Dobermans when I'm around people. I don't believe in bad breeds just idiot owners, so I keep Bear well disciplined. I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to training him. But overall Bear is just a 95lb. baby.

Great Pics! I'll be heading out to Guadalupe Peaks sometime in Feb. from the Tx hill country. I haven't made that trip before-- I spend more time in Big Bend than anywhere else out there, but it's time to expand my horizons.

Well, I export all of my images for "Print" so they're HUGE. Most of my canvas sizes are around 60/60 inches (I don't know the exact size in MB but it's big), then I adjust the image to fit the size I want to print. I only create 1 image that I export to an external drive. If I kept them on my computer...well I wouldn't have anywhere to store them. THEN...I pick the images I want to post online and size them for online use. I have a Mac, so I use the photo viewer to re-size taking it down to about 800 x 600 which is around which is about 135KB. I try not to create a lot of copies so I usually delete the compressed files immediately. Most of the images "appear" to be clear and some are better than others, but the original ones exported for print are crystal clear!
The image below has been compressed in the manner stated above...it doesn't do the original justice.
This was taken in NC near my old house.

Big Bend is amazing! It's "Bigger" than Guadalupe NP. I would however argue that G-NP has a better trail system for hiking/running/camping. Big Bend has got G-NP beat when it comes to offroad driving though...that's for sure! One other important factor when considering G-NP is how close Carlsbad NM is in relation.

Thank you! Sometimes I feel as if I lack the "technical" background to really take advantage of the cameras full potential. I try and do as much research as I can, but sometimes there are still (what I would consider) huge gaps in my ability. I've sat for hours, visiting the same locations over and over again trying to understand why I'm not seeing the "image" I think I should be seeing. If that makes sense. :crazy:

I did some shooting for the Nature Conservancy down in Big Bend SP (specifically, we shot Sawtooth Mountain) a couple of months ago. Wish we could have made it over to the NP. I grew up in Texas, but I had never been down there. IT WAS AWESOME. Really incredible terrain.
I'm teaching an Environmental Documentary Filmmaking course this May down in Junction and we will spend a few days down in the NP. I'm hoping to get some time to wheel in the evenings when the students are working on their edits.

All I see is a set of ears pricked up in the back saying "Dad? Dad, why are you leaving me back here. I wanna be outside, too! Oh you're taking photos..again" =P
Just a fellow dog owner whose dogs do the same things...Still enjoying the pictures.
