What shop did you take it to?

Obviously you're having some other issues now, but would you recommend them? I've been looking for a shop in the area as the local dealers kind of suck!

How have the 255s been in today's snow?

Honestly...the Firestone near the CVS on Coalton. I know it sounds crazy and I would have probably never walked in, but I was recommended by a friend. The mechanics I've talked to all have offroad experience, so they don't look at you like you're a moron. Plus, they've always had a fast turn around. For instance, I called Boulder Toyota and they told me around $800 to replace one wheel bearing and they could get to it in about a week or so....:twitch: I called Firestone and it was in the same day and out 2 hours later for less than half of what Toyota quoted me. :cheer2: They've also recommended other shops that specialize in electrical or drivetrain work. So far I'm happy with their service and I'll keep going back...until they break something

I was talking about the wheel bearing, lol- BUT yes, I have replaced the ABS line on 4RnRgrl's 'Runner. We stretched the driver's line and broke it when installing the UCA. It's VERY easy! Basically you unplug the harness from both ends and follow the line unbolting all the brackets. Fool proof, really. You will need someone with Techstream to find out which front line is broken.
Once you replace it, drive about a block and all the lights will go out.

Why would you want to do that? If you are thinking about repairing it, I wouldn't. The wires are very thin and need to be 100% protected and waterproof in a very demanding environment. I think the replacements are like $55....

They don't break because they are too short, they break because they are pulled and stretched while hanging loose during suspension work. They are very fragile when hanging loose. When they are secured they are supported/protected very well.

Exact mileage...I have no idea. Like I said before, I was running the Duratracs and probably couldn't hear when they first started to go. My mileage was 122k when I got the front driver side replaced but at that point, it was roaring pretty loud, but it had little to no movement when it was on jack stands. They showed me what they pulled and it was full of metal shards.

There's a lot more to the wheel bearing failure than just mileage. Weight, wheel offset, spacers, etc will effectively change the usable bearing life. Just sayin' lol.

Jake, you still running and riding? A friend of mine just ran a 50 miler and did a 100 mile race earlier this year. It's hard for me to ride 100 miles much less run it.

FJ-80s have serviceable wheel bearings and the 100 series LCs have serviceable bearings in the front.

So far they're doing very well overall. I'm very pleased on and off road on both ice and snow. Most of the roads I drive to get to the trail heads are off camber, rocky, steep, and full of snowdrift. I've had zero issues getting around. Yesterday I went though a deep section and had to put it in 4LO, but I managed to get free.
