It has taken me a while to finally start this build. Fortunately this summer seems to have gone well, and I had a bit of money left over after paying off some student loans. So I decided to treat the 4Runner to some upgrades!

Unfortunately I do not have any pics of it when it was at it's stock state, but we all know what a 2006 Limited V8 4Runner (Galactic Gray) looks like.

This is the only pic I have with me of it completely stock, minus the dipped wheels. Yea, I was messing at work to see what flex I had at stock, and yea it wasn't much...

The mods I threw on fell pretty quick:
- Installed the Daystar KT09115BK with a friend and was happy with the height improvement.
- Wheels I decided on were 18" Ultra Gauntlets since Alex T4R was getting rid of his.
- I needed new tires since I had already slid 2x in the original tires (~60k miles). I ended up getting Cooper Discoverer A/T3's 265/65R18.
- I lost a cap off my roof rack, and there was no way I was paying the stealership 100 for that piece of plastic. Fortunately I found a Baja Rack for 150 in the classifieds. Only issue was it was peeling, had surface rust, and was missing the mounting brackets. Bought it, sanded it down, re-powder coated it and fabbed brackets at work to make the roof rack sit lower. I like the sleek look much more.
- Random mod: Hollywood HR8500 hitch bike rack.
- And right before my drive to Illinois, I swapped the bulbs for Philips H11 CrystalVision Ultra Headlight Bulbs. For $20 i'm pretty satisfied with the light output.

Hope to update this frequently and finally get her on the trails sometime!

Wheels look amazing on the truck, I'm glad you like them and we were able to make a deal. I don't even have the 14' 4runner anymore but if I even come back to 4runner I will most likely get one like yours and make offroad rig.

Damn man you go through cars like nothing! And i definitely like the wheels, thanks. I've already gotten compliments on them and met another guy with a modded 4runner in my city.

The satoshi, it's coming along. I might try finishing it this week. And yea, after next weeks mod, hopefully I can dip it the weekend after or so.

A bit of updating to my build. Nothing out of the ordinary, but do love how it turned out. I've been working on my 4runner for the past month and below are the updates.

First was the Borla Exhaust 140146
I managed to grab it for cheap used off a member here, who was kind enough to throw in a K&N drop in filter as well. Didn't take a good picture of it, but here's a pic of what it includes

I came across this LED kit for $15. Everyone on here seemed to be satisfied so i placed an order for a set. I was pretty pleased with the results. I don't have pics of it right now but, output pics are on the link.

Another weekend I worked on installing my Toytec Boss Lift w/LR UCAs. Unfortunately I spaced out and installed the rear springs with the spacers. Managed to remove them alone, but it was a pain.

Along with my Boss lift, I got my stock skids powder coated red. I know they aren't much but, I like red and until i fab up my own set, these look good to me.

Here is how she sat after everything. Not much lift in the front because when i installed the Toytec lift I was exhausted and just wanted to go home. I didn't get to adjust the coil-overs at all.

Also spent an hour re-tapping the freaking rear license plate bolt. My dad snapped it off and never fixed it. I got fed up with the leaning license plate and fixed it.

I believe this deserves a separate post. I helped Nyc-Runner plastidip his 4Runner a while back and just never got around to doing mine until this weekend. I wen't with camo green since I'm a bit of a Halo fan, and felt like its a good color to go with a matte finish (everyone does black).

It turned out much better than i expected. And I rushed it because my brother was nagging me to go home. I like it more because it's my brother's favorite mod on my 4Runner, and he helped me pick the color.

Here's a pic my brother took with his cell phone editing features which I thought looked pretty cool. I feel like the rusty beat up environment adds to the pic

I still have a set of lights i have yet to install from HokieRunner and some decals which i have yet to put up from Ghost. Definitely recommend his work and Hokie as a seller!

Thanks! I put that on hold, i ordered some Aluminum tubes recently and am working with a coworker on designing a set of sliders. I still have to finish it, but since you brought it up i'll see if i get to it this weekend. I really want to make a raptor stlye satoshi but with the 4th gen font. I'm very indecisive on how I really want it to turn out, I just know I want to try a different design so people have something else to look it.

Awesome and thanks man. Well ill try to adjust my coilovers this weekend and hopefully fix the little mess ups on my dip. It'll be my first time wheeling in this and remember I don't have 4lo. Trying to take it easy my first time, but hit me up for sure!

I'm terrible at updating this, primarily because my cell phone camera sucks.

But since the plastidip i installed an Addicted Off Road bumper with [MENTION=79132]Nyc-Runner[/MENTION] and [MENTION=72341]NJshadow93[/MENTION].
Right after I installed a 0.5" body lift along with [MENTION=72341]NJshadow93[/MENTION] in order to leave a gap between the bumper and body.(@shootmymime is on point with his orders!) For those who like a snug fit, AOR did too good of a job!

This is not the outcome of the bodylift, but more me messing around during the install.

Final product (also installed drings on the bumper along with some daystar dring protection so it wouldn't damage the powder coat on my bumper. )

Once the body lift was installed, I was fortunate enough to get a dead amp. I took it to the dealer to find the issue and after swapping the HU they figured it was the amp. I used this as an excuse to upgrade my sound system.

Big shout out to [MENTION=105486]amartin4410[/MENTION], he convinced me to do this on my own and not have an audio shop do the installation. After reading various threads on JBL upgrades, headunits, audio etc, I was able to put together what I wanted from Crutchfield.

I decided to get the following:

- Kenwood DNX571HD (also going to install steering controls while i'm at it)
- Kicker 40CSS654 (component speakers)
- Kicker 40CSS674 (component speakers)
- Kicker 40CWRT82 (sub)
- Alpine PDX-V9 (amp)
- For the spring i'm looking to install sound deadening material [MENTION=46025]HokieRunner[/MENTION] and his tutorial are the reason for this!)

This past Saturday, I took apart the interior. Unfortunately i didn't get to install and due to Sunday's rain i didn't work on it either. This has left me to drive without any panels haha

The culprit for my big expense...

How my interior looks right now:

I currently have everything laid out in my living room ready to install.
All i need to complete:
- drill a hole in firewall for the amp
- make brackets for the tweeters
- wait for steering controls (first set arrived damaged)
- mount everything in the truck (head-unit, amp, sub and speakers). I already have everything laid out in my living room.

Hopefully i can post a finished pic by this weekend. Looking to try a Thursday after work install since it seems its going to rain this Saturday. :yell:

[MENTION=122413]Qlaloo[/MENTION] Reminded me I haven't been updating my build thread. So I dug through my phone and decided to update it today.

I got around to installing my radio, however I upgraded it to the Kenwood DNX572BH since the original was giving me problems. It keep freezing up and fortunately I had gotten the warranty from Best Buy. I like this unit and haven't had any issues.

Here's a pic of me wheeling w/camo green plastidip. Unfortunately I don't have a good camera, so I have to settle with what other people end up taking of my trips. :\ Hope to change that soon.

I eventually got tired of the camo green, and decided to do away with it. That's my brother helping me to remove the dip.

After not seeing my stock color for some time, I decided to leave it alone for a while. I really enjoyed the look of my Runner with its stock finish, however after a few pinstripes while wheeling I remembered why I loved the dip. :lookout:

Finally putting the rack to good use. I never realized how useful a roof rack is until i had one.

I never took a good pic of my solo camping setup, but this should give you guys an idea. Not having to deal with ice and coolers is great. Plus who doesn't love a nice cold beer by a campfire?

This post is a bit more recent. I ended buying a Gobi ladder, and was upset that one of the bolts snapped when tightening by hand. Regardless it's still sturdy and looks good. having it definitely helps when i have to tied stuff to the rack.

I eventually decided to redip my Runner and went with my favorite color, Red.

After dipping it I got some decals from a member at the Tacoma forums. he does real good work and is fast. I couldn't be happier with my Halo style decals :dance:

Oh yea, in the previous pic you can see I installed a 50" Led bar as well. Had to make custom mounts at work. I'll snap a pic sometime.

I had a hi-lift for a while, but never had a mount. Didn't feel like paying the money for one from Baja, so I went ahead and made one at work.

Now this past week I got an amazing deal on some 33"x12.5 R17 Dick Cepek Mud Country tires. It was for all 5 tires and 5 FJ wheels. It was too good to pass up.

Although the FJ wheels were flaking and had some corrosion I didn't care. I sanded them down and plastidipped them. Ideally I wanted to powder coat them, but since they were already mounted and balanced I chose the cheaper & quickest option.

I still need to get a pic. The best part is i didn't have to chop anything. I got no rubbing, and didn't need spacers either.
