Great Post - Worth a Repeat in the 5th Gen Section

I had been researching different styles of BMC, pros/cons of leaving or welding a plate back in...
I was worried about rigidity and load bearing - the safety angle never occurred to me.
This is my first Toyota and my son and I are modding and wheeling as learning/bonding projects.
I don't think I can do a BMC now and then hand the keys to him when he turns 16 in 3 years.
I don't need 34's that badly.

Now you'll notice there's some overlap on a couple models that fall within that model's generation. The reason for this is because Toyota switched to the J150 Frame in 2010 for their line-up with no fanfare beside a cosmetic exterior refresh on some models (FJ & Tacoma being the obvious ones).

J150 = Land Cruiser (Prado) and GX460
N280 = 5th gen 4Runner

I did the BMC on my '06 and just welded a piece of plate over the opening - figured it's better than nothing even if it's not as strong as the original boxed section.
