Have you ever been on sand highway? Gordon's to Glamis run? Sand is very forgiving and suitable for 2wd. Don't drive on the whoops then!

Winter is generally a good time to do your desert runs. Calico, Anza Borrego, Truckhaven Hills, Stoddard Wells OHV. The other option is to put a snow run together. Snow runs are generally done on easy trails to site see and with the added difficulty of the snow makes it exciting enough. Examples of a snow runs I have done in the past are as follows

Green Valley Lake/ Crab Flats 3N16 around to Big Bear. Long drive in the snow but not to bad, however some sections can get deep and be an issue with our 2wd guys.

Rouse Ridge to Thomas Mountain in the San Jacinto area.

I didn't see any feedback from anyone about the two routes Pikeman offered. Gorman is a little far for the guys in San Diego. Glamis won't work for our 2wd members as far as I know. All of the meets I try to kick off are of more of a moderate difficulty at worst type deal to try to get as many folks together as we can to keep our SoCal Club active. This by no means prevents anyone else from organizing difficult runs following the morning run or organizing a separate run altogether. The good thing about San Berdo/San Jac runs is that there are plenty of difficult trails that the folks with advanced rigs can run afterwards. I appreciate the suggestions thus far, but am leaning towards Pikeman's suggestions.
 
I'd like to go but I suggest it is not on MLK weekend. Reason: a lot of people will be considering a weekend trip somewhere due to the holiday. A single day trip / run will conflict. Just my 2 cents.
 
I'm interested! I'm a beginner, no lift, no fancy tires. Will the trail require either of these?

I'll call my cousin out too with his 4th gen.

I took my truck out there a few times when it was stock and had a great time. Didnt use 4wd much at all.\
 
Can't go - Too short of notice..

I can't go now, too short of notice for work.. we still don't know what day, time, locations... Sorry guys I just can't get it off during the week of a meet..

I hope that someone can start planning these trips out a little bit more in advance.. 2 weeks should be a minimum.. :happens:

Sorry guys, just started working night shift so I haven't been in a planning mood. Tell ya what, can we agree to Saturday of the MLK weekend? Also, depending on what run we decide upon, who is familiar with and can lead each run? Donny is right, we probably should have had it figured out by now, I'm hoping somebody else will rally the group and start a thread for February's run.

This thread has a lack of leadership. Can someone who has already done the goal run just take charge, pick the run, the date and step up as the organizer?

I have done a few runs in Anza-Borrego but I not enough to plan anything. I'd really like to just tag along with some of you veterans.

Option B) Big Bear District SBNF Jacoby Canyon to 3N16 through Holcomb to Polique Canyon coming out in Fawnskin. Lower moderate but still ok for stock 4wd and can get a 2wd through with help especially with snow on ground. Meeting at Big Bear Discovery Center 40971 North Shore Drive (Highway 38), PO Box 66, Fawnskin, CA
