Hey guys! This is my first thread. I've been lurking for forever and decided that I was tired of lurking and went a bought a basic tool set (living in the dorms on base so no garage to store them) and decided to removed the running boards. Man what a difference! It looks like it's 2 inches higher!

Like the title says this will be a slow build thread because I don't have a bunch of money and I'm kinda limited on what I can do as far as tools. But I'll be sure to post whatever I do on here! :yo:

Awh that sucks.


So after I took off the running boards I went to go spray the underside because I had noticed there was a good amount of mud caked on. I went and got it all cleaned up but as I was leaving the car wash I noticed that it had high rpms and when I came to a stop it started to putter and it eventually died. TWICE! I've looked up the problem on here and it seems to be that the throttle body needs to be cleaned and also the IAC so I'm going to go get some cleaner tomorrow morning. Thoughts and tips from anybody that has done this before would be greatly appreciated because I'm fairly new to doing maintenance on a vehicle.

Just take off the hose that's attached to the throttle body with a screw driver and you can clean it. BTW McCarthy Toyota in Sedalia is great for bigger things you can't do yourself. Whatever you do STAY AWAY from the shop on base!

Thanks! I'll keep that dealership in mind. Yeah the shop on base doesn't look like a good place haha.

So for the past two weeks all it's been is bad gas. Nothing else was wrong. I had my friend who has a bachelors degree in automotive technology look at it and he said "From what I've seen so far it appears to be a fuel issue." He even took out a few spark plugs and said that they were in good shape and practically new. While he was doing this I was trying to think of any fuel issues and I remembered that I had filled up when the gas station had a tanker there filling up their pumps so I believe that was the problem.

Jaruga is now running fine but my parents still want to take back home and get me something new (in case you are wondering I'm only 19). But I don't want to get a new(er) truck if this one is working fine. I'm afraid this might be the end for Jaruga for a bit. :sobbing:
