I've got an '03 Limited with the 10 speaker JBL 6 disk system. I've read through some of the threads and searched around a bit about hooking in aux units to allow for iPod/iPhone connections and am very interested in doing this. I have a few questions, however...
There seem to be a couple of device options. The ones I've looked at online are the ISAS71 from http://peripheralelectronics.com/ and the PODTOYV215 or PODTY3V6from www.icarkits.com
1) Both claim to charge the device, but threads on the forum seem to be conflicted over whether or not iPhones charge the same as iPods. Is there any consensus?
2) Both devices allow for song control through the steering wheel. While this sounds nice, I'm not sure how useful this is. Someone who uses it please chime in. Sounds handy, though.
3) The more expensive model from icarkits is able to put the song info on the radio display. This might be handy if the phone was tucked away, but I normally have mine out where I can use it as my 'nav system' if necessary. So I'm not sure if the text feature is worth the extra $50. Opinions?
4) I want the sound to be "digital quality" in. Some of the forum posts, and the peripheralelectronics.com page indicate this requires the loss of the 6 disk changer. While this wouldn't be a terrible loss for me, I'd like to avoid it if there is another way. The icarkits page doesn't mention anything about losing the 6-disk changer. Is there another way?
5) I'm also looking for a better place to put the iPhone than my cup holder. A few of you had posted nice
car mount kits but all the pictures seem to have aged off. Does anyone have a good pic of how they've got their iPhone mounted?
Thanks !
