JBL CD Failure

It has been cold here (21degree F) and my damn CD player quit playing discs. It takes CD in but wont play it, then it spits it out after few seconds. I tried different disks to no avail. What the hell? This is 2004 JBL Syntesis head unit. Is it dead, it plays radio stations?

There is a lube on the laser sled that is the consistency of "cold cream". If it gets really cold it gets too thick to let the sled move and it can't detect the cd. What happens if you heat up the inside with the heater? Maybe that will fix it. The only other way is to disassemble and clean all the old lube off and re lube it.

Could there be condensation on the surface of the discs? If the discs are cold and the air is humid, you would get condensation.

I'd let the radio and the CD's warm up for 20-30 minutes (maybe eject the CD's first), and then see what happens.

The CD player can fail independently of the rest of the head unit, so that is a possibility as well.
