JBL Nav MP3 DVDs?

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if the JBL audio system that comes with the Limited with Nav can read MP3 DVDs?

I know it reads DVDs because it uses them for maps.

I know it reads MP3 CDs.

Will it read MP3s burned to a DVD?

It would be pretty convenient if it could.

no...The dvd drive only is available for the nav map dvd

No Toyota/Lexus OEM system (including Mark Levinson) can play MP3s from a DVD. They can play DVD audio and video.

SO let me just ask becuase I had a Lexus LX570 and when in park I could play dvd movie on the nav screen is this the same case for the 4runner limited too? if so GREAT!!

I'd have to agree with nashman69g here. There are two disc drives on the 5th gen 4runner nav unit. The top drive is a CD drive and is only capable of taking CDs, not DVDs. It will successfully use mp3 CDs.

The bottom drive is a DVD drive, but to my knowledge it is used for the DVD map disc only. I don't believe you can insert a media disc of some sort in there and have it work. I believe the system reserves that drive for the map disc only.

If you have the rear DVD player, then yes, you can get the DVD video onto the navigation screen. The DVD drive can only read the map disc data. The HU alone can't decode DVD video.
