I know I got luck, a guy ended up buying two 06's by mistake so he sold me one at my last bid price which was 170 plus shipping.
The radio came to my house working great with the CD player working perfectly.

I really don't know. I can't seem to find another 2006 JBL Synthesis deck to even know what its worth... If you know what its worth, please feel free to make an offer. Here is a really crappy picture I took with my camera phone. Its blurry and looks terrible but I assure you the deck is mint. Thanks

What would be the difference between the JBL Synth, and my stock prem . unit ?
Is it a plug and play unit ? I only have 6 speakers , and not 10 (unfortunately )
Will it work with steering wheel control's ?
I'm interested if I can learn more about it and the compatibility with my 6 speaker system if it all , and what benefit's there would be to the switch.

I sold my 05
Ya a 100 is a little low for an 06 OEM, I just sold my 05 JBL OEM 6 disk on eBay for 150.00 bucks.
And it's only an 05 with no mp3 capability.

Nope, as stated in subject line you will need to change the silver bezel around the radio and also the AC-controll unit, it is way too expensive to buy from toyota but you migt be able to trade yours with some body who needs them.

This will not fit the single-disc opening without replacing the trim (which you can do by swapping it out with someone who is going from 6-disc to a NAV is a good idea ... it has been done on these forums many times ...).
I paid $230 + shipping for one of these on Ebay about 6 months ago. This was a bit higher than I should have paid --- but, this was the first 2006 4Runner JBL to make its way to Ebay ... so, I was willing to spend the extra cash to do this mod.
The 2006 JBL unit will only work if you already have the 10 speaker synthesis system in your vehicle.
The 2006 unit loses the RDS ability, but gains MP3 and Sat ability (need sat module for the sat to work). Also -- you should be able to tap into the lines to add an AUX input rather easily (still workin on figuring that one out myself...)

I have a 2006 Sport Edition, so the bezel color is the darker gray, not the lighter silver as in the regular SR5.
