JBL Synthesis sub box volume??

I have a 2005 SE with the 10 speaker JBL synthesis system in it. I was trying to find out the volume of the sub box that comes with the factory system. I was hoping to buy a shallow 10" sub that would use the same volume and just mod the box to fit the new sub. I would love to have more bass in my system, but still make it look stock.

10" is too big for stock location without external box. Someone mounted an 8" rockford fosgate sub inverted in the stock location.

Perhaps some slim-line subs will fit in the stock location...you need a new amp for it too.

I know 10" is to big, but I was going to try and make a mod to the box so I could fit one on. I don't think it would be to hard, and with the slim line subs not needing to much volume I think I could reuse the stock sub box, and keep everything hidden. I just need to volume of the stock box so I can figure out what kind of slim line sub I can use. That is if I can use one at all.

17 liters or about .6 ft^3 for the metric challenged.

The available top mount depth appears be somewhere between 4.25" and 4.5" based on what's been installed conventionally.

riverwolf, thanks you very much!!! Now I can finish my research for a shallow 10", and then I can start working on making a piece to mount it in the factory sub box.
