JBL w/ Navigation died. Challenges with replacment

I have a 2006 4Runner Limited with the JBL w/ Navigation.

So, the stock head unit died last week, so I upgraded to a Kenwood DDX8906S with the maestro kit and harnesses to maintain all the factory controls, amp, backup camera, etc.

Most of the wiring was straight forward.

I'm currently having two problems:
1. When I put it in Reverse, the Kenwood shows the rear camera screen, including the yellow lines indicating where you are going, but there is no camera display.
2. When I attempt to use Android Auto, I get a message stating I need to stop the car first. This sounds like maybe an issue with the parking brake?

I'm open to suggestions at this point.

1. Did your camera require a trigger from the backup lights? I had to tap into the driver side backup light for that.
2. Yes, it likely is. I would check and see if eBay has a parking brake bypass (usually around $20) that you can use to make the HU think the park brake is on.

The wire harness from Maestro has a lead for the backup light (which I presume triggers the radio to display the backup camera). Since the display does change and says it is showing the camera, along with the guidelines, I think the backup light lead is working correctly. Just not sure why it's not displaying the video.

Re: parking brake bypass. Seems many people say just grounding that wire will work. I think I'll give that a try before ordering more stuff to try and shove in the hole.

The harness might have a wire for it, but what about the camera? I had to hook up a ground wire and tap the positive lead into the backup light. The stereo will more than likely still display the lines on a blank screen if there's no power to the camera itself. Which camera did you get?

So, Maestro had to create a custom flash rom for me due to the power wire for the camera only outputting 3.5 volts. They had me use another unused wire, and the backup camera seems to be resolved.

I'm still getting issues with Android Auto thinking I'm moving. I think I'm just going to ground it and see if that resolves the issue.

Camera is the OEM camera. Was already there and working.

I have a 2008 Limited I just picked up, and I’m wanting to replace the stock JBL Navigation.

From what I’ve been reading, the JBL Navigation (I have the E7009) requires a different dash kit than the non JBL units. Can I ask what dash kit you bought? Any pix? Thx!
