Am I supposed to actually get a remote if I have this option to operate the controls from the rear of the truck?

Also when listening wirelessly with headrest in the rear. The radio cannot be heard through the normal speakers or what? I am confused about this? Anyone currently using this set-up?

Thanks

you are suppose to get a remote if you have the rear wireless audio system. there's a whole section in the owner's manual that describe how that system works with the normal system. basically the cd player and the radio can be played independently in the normal and wireless audio systems. the remote can control the cd player from the rear.

10-4 So if I have the screen overhead in the rear with the display do I have it? Sorry for the confusion I have the truck parked in my garage right now. The dealer let me borrow it to take home to show the wife and I am trying to figure out all the bells and whistles

if you have the LCD panel in that dome light, then yes, you have the rear radio system. You are supposed to have gotten a remote with the truck. My dealer didn't have the remote for my truck for some reason, and to this day, still hasn't been able to get it for me.

It can only be heard through the wireless headphones, which are sold as accessories.

Yup, it should come with the wireless remote and mine also came with the wireless headsets.

When I first got the truck it didn't come with either, though it said it should on the window sticker. The dealership didn't give me any problems and ordered them for me.

Its kind of nice to listen to something else while your passengers are doing there own thing. The wireless headsets are very sensitive and don't work outside the vehicle. Take Note: If the radio is selected to listen to the CD and the wireless remote is selecting the CD, the wireless remote controlls both the radio and the wireless.

Those of you who don't have the remote could buy a cheap programable remote from radio shack and just swipe the IR signals from someones 4runner remote if you really wanted too. If you REALLY wanted a working remote. Of course you would then have to buy the head phones to go with it!

:D

Dealer probably has the remote

Since you haven't purchased this truck yet, the dealer probably has the remote for both theft concerns and to make sure that they don't have to order a new one because the one that came with the truck was damaged during a test drive. All '04's with rear audio come with 2 headsets and 1 remote. If you don't get them at the time of delivery, the dealer must order them at their cost to replace the ones for your vehicle.

I have 10 speaker sport o4 edition which came with remote but without headsets.
Does it mean the dealer just didnt give me the headsets I paid for?

Sounds like they screwed you over. If you still have the window sticker, it should say that the wireless headsets come with the truck.

Mine didn't come with any headsets and as far as I know the headsets are extra.

The rear audio is really worthless without the headsets. It made the dealer a few extra bucks though.

Nope. According to the dealers in CA anyway, the headphones are additonal accessories that you must pay for. My truck didn't come with the headphones either, but did have the remote. Pretty stupid really!

Course if anyone has any success getting their headphones from the dealer FREE, I'd be keen to know the details eg which dealer?

Thanks

Guys my dealer in AZ and my 05 Sticker both say that the remote comes with it but NO headsets.....go figure.

The rear seat audio comes with the remote and the remote comes with the clip holder. The wireless headphones is another option as shown on the window sticker.

my window sticker included the remote, the remote clip, and the two headphones, but they didn't come with the truck. i showed this to the dealer and they ordered two headphones for me free-of-charge. i don't have teenagers so, as far as i am concerned, it is a useless option.

Clip Holder?? What does that look like?? I want to make sure I have that as well.... and where does the clip holder mount to?

the remote holder looks like one of those plastic ell phone holders that clips to your belt except bigger. i clip it to the back of the driver seat on the lip of the 'magazine slot'

hey sorry to dig up on old post but my 4Runner has this and I'd like to make it work. The headsets are on ebay for $39. Say "toyota" on them and everything. Is that a good price?
