JC Whitney Third Row Seat Pictures

The car is great as a daily driver. perfect for two adults and two kids but you can put three in the middle.

I also bought a cheap third row seat from JC Whitney and put that in the back so we can haul bunches of kids when necessary. The seat pulls out easily when you don't need it.

A note on the third row seat. JC Whitney's price is much cheaper than anywhere else, you can get free shipping and I think I used a coupon. The only problem is that it still took me three different tries to get it. The company that makes and ships the seat apparently doesn't package it well and UPS get sending it back to them before it go to me and JC Whitney would then cancel the order.

I didn't want to completely hijack the daily driver thread so started a new one.

In that thread I mentioned that I was happy with my JC Whitney 3rd Row seat that I installed. I got a couple of requests to see pictures of the seat installed. The original upholstery was removed and recovered with the leather you see here when I did the rest of the seats. I don't recall any type of mounting instructions but the mounting hardware was included.

The kids just climb right in and out. No problems at all. At one point I thought about getting one of those trailer hitch mounted steps but it just isn't needed. For adults, your knees are in your chest and not really recommended except when you have no other options.

Are there any head rests for this seat in case of a wreck? For kids I am sure it is fine but adults sit higher.

Not on the Whitney seats but really you can't put adults back there unless you just don't have a choice.

It was three years ago so I don't actually recall the cost anymore. I remember I played around with coupons and may have gone with a 20% off coupon as opposed to free shipping or was able to use both. $350ish sounds right.

When I compared prices with other companies is was substantially cheaper. This company sells their "standard" seat which is the same as the Whitney one for a 70% premium. For a grand you can have the deluxe seat with headrests and shoulder restraints.

A couple of reasons. One that's how it was designed to be installed. Two although it wouldn't be too much harder for kids to climb over the middle seat if you folded it down, you'd have to lift the bottom seat and pull out the head rest every time you folded it down to let them in.

Asmara thanks for the write-up and photos. I have a 2008 and snuck in the 3rd gen forum to have a look at this mod. How old were you're kids when they went in there back in 2010 and do they still ride back there? It is really a tiny seat.

Reminds me of The family's old 1993 Ford Taurus station wagon with the rearward facing third row seat that folded into the floor... That thing rocked!!

They were 8 and 10. Lots of room for them and their stuff. We took many road trips and we had no complaints about the seats.
