JDM Engine issues

Is there anything I could've hooked up wrong to cause that much smoke? Or is it most likely an issue with the engine itself

Well, there was a guy on my BMW board who hitched a coolant line where a vacuum line should go. THAT would do it. He managed to hydrolock the engine that way.

That was one of those all-time great threads.

I just started on a JDM engine swap as well.

Got it from JDM Engine Zone. They claim their engines have 62k or less on them. Here's what it looks like under the valve covers:

And for comparison, here's what my current engine with 196k looks like:

Don't meant to hijack this thread as I got my own one going here but was curious if the condition of the heads on my JDM engine is pretty typical.

You will see that a lot with JDM motors I was stationed in Japan and the oil they use it way different then what we use. I replace a valve cover gasket on a car I had over there 25k was on it and it look all gummy inside. I don't think they put very much detergent then there oils

Umm did you hook up the vac hose on the Throttlebody in the right place and hook up the coolant lines to the right place in the Throttlebody? Had a buddy to that one time and ran about like that

This ended up being my problem, thanks for the help everybody she's running great now.

seems like almost 62km on One oil fill. Tells me to steer in a different direction when the time comes..... :cowboy:
Last time I posted about how some JDM engines are of questionable quality, I got shot down around here. That pic is proof that they aren't all good!

My 275k mile engine looks better inside:

Regular dino oil every ~5k until 260k, now on its third Rotella T6 fill.
