just recently picked up my 2000 4runner limited w/ locker for a decent price to start a 4x4 project. so far I've been collecting parts for the past month and just waiting tip i have everything before i do the installation.


next to my 2015 tacoma trd off road




so far my list of upgrades are:
king front coil overs extended length
king rear shocks with reservoirs with compression adjusters (still waiting on them to arrive)
ome 890 rear springs
energy suspension master bushing kit (won't be using all of them)
camburg uca
bamf weld on rock sliders (3 month eta)
tundra brake setup
bud built front skid plate



first mod was adding a koyo oil cooler for the transmission, decided to run hardline and an fittings instead of just using rubber hose and clamps



wheels: rota trail r 16x8 0 offset (bradley v replicas)
tires: 285/75/16 bfg at ko2

replaced the fuel tank sender, fuel pump and all the rubber hoses on the fuel tank.
also restored the fuel tank and fuel tank skid,




restored some of the frame while it was on the lift.



test fitted the wheels:



removed the steering column and fixed the play

Hands down the cleanest Trans cooler install I've seen on here.
Can't wait to see more of your build.
 
some updates received my energy suspension bushing kit from nemosgarage in ontario california.


stopped by kartek to pick up the total chaos shock tower gussets

recently drove the 4runner up around cleghorn fire trail
 
The build is already coming along nicely. What are your plans for this build? Sounds like you are pretty local if you are going up to Cleghorn. I'm just out in Yucaipa. Let me know if you wanna go wheeling sometime.

thanks! originally bought to make a nice trail suv to go out to places where i can shoot lol I'm overbuilding it for what i actually do need but its fun collecting parts. hopefully i can start taking it apart in a couple weeks

I'm from chino, yah that would be great.

fuel pump i got online, just a denso aftermarket one for paint i used SEM trim black.

just got my arp wheel studs for the 4runner, since I'm changing out all the wheel bearings might as well change the studs



also got in my cv boot rebuild kit and lower ball joints
 
finally started to take apart the suspension so i can start prepping the total chaos shock tower gussets in. need to make some access holes on the passenger side so i can still easily unbolt the ac compressor and bracket for when i change my timing belt.

found my right knuckle to be bent after i put the 2 knuckles side by side on the floor, it had a previous accident on the front right side but didn't think it was too bad as the frame wasn't touched or the radiator support. need to go to the junk yard and pick up another knuckle. I've read up and looked through toyota part numbers that 2wd and 4x4 use the same knuckle.


 
luckily found a 4x4 4runner at the local junkyard yesterday, also had them welded yesterday locally. amazing job, fully tig'ed total chaos gussets, highly recommended i will be setting a time for him to weld in my total chaos shock tower gussets.

made some decent progress over the weekend, had the welder Ted (heliarc works) come in to weld in the total chaos upper tower gussets, amazing work even though it was in a hard to reach area. all the parts have been cleaned and prepped and repainted black.






frame got a nice coat of sem trim black


restored and re booted the oem axles with the oem boot kit





also added grease fittings on the factory arms before i installed the energy bushings



painted the knuckles, installed new wheel bearings, arp wheel studs and new wheel seals along with the tundra calipers

Looks great man. Smart move with the spindle upgrade. How do you like your Kings? I'm pretty happy with mine. Btw did you keep them at the defaults?
