JET programmer

Has anyone tried a programmer for the V8? Would be nice to pick up an extra .000001 mpg. Geez, anything would be better than this.

What year do you have? Do you have a city or highway commute? Is the T4R paid for? There are a few things you can do, but understand, the improvement will be minimal. Remove HCF, Remove any excess weight, inside and outside (running boards, off road bumpers etc.) I also removed my roof rack cross bars. Most of all have a LIGHT right foot.

All that being said, my 03 is paid for and I absolutely love the power under my right foot. For my money I know of no other engine as smooth and reliable. If your Runner is paid in full what difference does it make if it gets 15 or 17 mpg? I wouldn't trade mine for anything out there right now.

Sorry, 05' paid for way out of any warranty. HFC removed, K&N filter, flowmaster muffler with resonator removed.

Coming from a 3rd gen, and riding in the GF's 06' V6 makes it worse. I like the sound of the V8 and it has okay power. It's hard to be excited about the HP when my other toy weighs 2700lbs and has over 500hp. Programmers allow for changing speedo for over size tires, monitoring air/fuel ratios, TPS and some allow you to change shift points and much more.
Kind of surprised more people on here aren't doing performance mods. I do want to do some headers eventually.

Never knew you can adjust the speedo for different tire sizes using a programmer. Anyone here have experience with this?

Didn't you know the gas mileage before you bought it? Forget about the mileage and enjoy a great engine. I wish mine got better too, but I knew what I was going to get and bought it anyway and never complained.

On my '03, I went full synthetic on all diffs, cases, and engine and gained 1 mpg in average over the next 1,000 miles. The 03 was full time 4x4. I also ran BFG AT's and ran them at 45 PSI giving an additional 3/4 mpg on average. Those easy and minor changes gave me almost an additional 2 mpg.

I knew about mileage, was hopeful I could lightfoot it and get a little more. I know upping the tire pressure would help, but I'm not sure about how the tires would wear.
